Free of charge, M9 owners will be able to claim one replacement phone during the first 12 months after buying it, and the protection on offer goes beyond just smashes screens. Water damage also is included, and the offer also applies if you decide to change carriers during the first year of ownership. The latter point is a big deal given that some U.S. carriers are now offering to pay the early termination fees of switchers joining their networks. Replacement phones will be sent out overnight to customers, HTC says.
Or, alternatively, if you don't use any of these replacements, you can get $100 towards the cost of a new HTC One device — an added incentive for M9 buyers to transition to a possible HTC One M10 next year. It's a compelling package that covers some of the major worries of smartphone owners — and one that's sure to leave HTC buyers in other territories feeling a little jealous.
