Samsung Galaxy S2 - August! ...finally

and that is why you are a guy that 'thinks' he knows what a quality display is..... sure there are crappy plasmas, but to generalize and even specifically state that a 240HZ LCD is better than a plasma makes you look foolish

Dude, ANY LCD TV looks better than even the best Plasma screens. I know a lot of people in AT have hardons for *AMOLED* Samsung screens, but are you high?

You have no credibility when you make statements like that.

not the right place for this argument....

but I have to ask... really? Any LCD?

you can objectively measure picture quality

And some value deeper blacks/colors and others resolution. Still an opinion.

Regardless it looks like we wait even longer!! BAH!

Sprint’s Galaxy S II dubbed ‘Samsung Epic Touch 4G,’ launches in September

We know we don’t have long to wait before Samsung’s wildly popular Galaxy S II smartphone launches stateside. It’s also a pretty safe bet that the sleek smartphone will reach all four major U.S. carriers considering how popular the original Galaxy S was. Additional details have been slow to surface, but we’ve just been given some preliminary details about one of the four U.S. variants we’ve been waiting for. BGR has learned that Sprint’s version of the slim smartphone will launch as the Samsung Epic Touch 4G. Like its predecessor, the Epic Touch 4G will feature 4G WiMAX connectivity, though as its moniker might suggest, it will lack the QWERTY keyboard found on the original Epic 4G. Additional specs are hardly a mystery — we reviewed the international version of the Galaxy S II back in May. And while we have yet to track down a specific release date for this cutting edge Gingerbread phone, our source did say that it is launching in September

Keep it on topic please. No one makes a plasma mobile phone screen so the point is moot.

I hate US carriers taking so long to release phones. This phone has been out for 6 months! Carriers take FORVER to get their own "changes" and bloatware.

god what is the matter with these retarded phone companies. just release the phone wtf is taking so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you even looked at a plasma screen before? Etch 'a' Sketchs look better.

I take it you must me into animation and never watch anything like sports or basically anything with live people...

You must also like the off-axis viewing issues, the backlight related problems. You must like the judder and subpar 3D that LCD offers..... I'll take my etch a sketch plasma any day of the week and twice on sunday

I'm not going to go into the merits of a obsolete, crappy screen tech that was pulled from shelves years ago by a better product. This thread is about the SGS2 US variants.

I don't think plasma was "pulled" from stores in favor of LCD tv's because of picture quality. I think it had something to do with production costs and size.

I would like to see you post this on AVSForum.

current plasmas are cheaper then equiv LCDs at just about any size over 45 inches

anyway back OT

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE PHONE GAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time I see this thread come back up the page I hope it's with news of a release. At this rate the SGS3 is going to come out before this phone makes a carrier launch on our shores.

I wonder why ATT hasn't gotten this yet since their version would require the least modifications.

Sept 8th for Verizon?
