Went out n picked up some Punkin' Ale. But I was hoping more for the DFH Bitches Brew. They said they trying to get it, but can't guarantee it.

Um, Sam's Oktoberfest has been in stores around here for at least 3 weeks.

Sam's is always hit or miss for me. How the fuck is Cherry Wheat still being made, as an example?

If you can find Shipyard Pumpkin Head Ale, I highly recommend it. It's all I drink from September - November. mmmmm

Definitely much better pumpkin beers out there. Pumpkinhead ale is more like cider+cinnamon/cloves than any actual pumpkin. Shipyard does make a smashed pumpkin ale that is decent. DFH and Weyerbacher have great pumpkin ales along with Southern Tier.

Yeah, it tastes like someone dumped some Robitussin into a glass of beer to me. Also, what is the black one they make -- Black Lager? That is awful too, IMO.

I'm not a big fan of Cranberry Lambic.

Weyerbacher pumpkin is the best I've ever tried. Must check out the DFH though. Sam's Oktoberfest is pretty good for the masses.

I prefer Paulaner Oktoberfest-Märzen or Spaten Oktoberfest.

whole foods had that and Hacker-Pschorr. I should have just picked one of those up, both are supposed to be very good. not sure if they had spaten though

I cringe and die a little inside whenever I see someone lugging a case of Coors product around the supermarket. There is bad, barely passable beer (Budweiser products), and then there is Coors, an abomination so awful that it is nearly a crime to mention it in the same sentence with a real beer such as a Sam Adams product.

Sam Adams is a macrobrewery too.

I still have one in the fridge. Stop talking about it, I can't afford to drink that stuff!!!

Back to the OP, I had a really good Octoberfest made by Short's brewery called Noble Chaos. As for the pumpkins I had some Dogfish Head but was just as impressed by Buffalo Bill's pumpkin.

I also had a robust porter from Thirsty Dog called Old Leghumper that was really really good.

I got 8 bottles from 2009 in my closet. The Bourbon County Stout rare bottles come out this year, I gotta snag some up.

sweet. just stopped by total wine for the first time. awesome! so many singles, so much better than any other store around here.

picked up the Sam Adams, Paulaner, Spaten, and Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest's, plus lagunitas IPA and sierra nevada tumbler. I've only had the sam adams before, I really can't wait to try the rest

had some recently back to back with their balck lager. the lager was better in my opinion thought theyre both pretty average as far as beer goes. i prefer winter seasonals myself (snowcap!).

this thread is reminding me that i have a delicious Belhaven Scottish Stout awaiting me at home...

What is everyone paying for their 12pk? i just picked one up for $13.99... trying to figure out if thats a good price or not... but the beer itself is delicious. drinking straight from the bottle... malty for sure. almost a brown sugar flavor at the end... wish i had a mug to taste it out of, bet this beer gives great head.

thats standard in my area at a normal grocery store (obviously bevmo can be cheaper). towards the end of the season it can get as low as 12 but then its gone quickly
