yes!! and the sam's octoberfest has been out here for a month or so, its pretty good, heavy yes indeed.

wait what? That's odd. They actually push the summer ale for most of the year a local bar owner was telling me. Too bad, cause it's my least favorite by far. Where do you live? I'm in Boston..I thought we'd get Octoberfest first :(

That's odd. It's your thread here
from a month ago about Sam's Oktoberfest in which many of us said it was already out then.

I picked up a case of both Sam's and Leinenkugel's Oktoberfest two or so weeks ago. I think the Sam's is a little better than last year's, I like the Sam's a little better than the Leinie's. Still not my favorite seasonal, but it'll do.

I just picked up a sixer of Leine's Oktoberfest today. It is delicious.

I dislike dark, heavy beers, the new BL lime actually fits me just right..

No problem; however, you will want to refer to the aforementioned product as "a citrus flavored adult beverage".

Not beer.

Oh, and 2 points will be charged to your man card.

It's just BL with some lime flavoring, dark, heavy beers seem like syrup,I just don't like 'em, not saying their bad just not my cup of tea. Oh, I had the nick from the '90's when I was a butcher for 8 years, does that get me my 2 points back??..Oh wait I drive a sedan, not an F350, DAMM there goes my points again!...

Far too hot still around here for heavy beers. I'm still working on some Summer Ale that I had in the fridge. I may pick some up late October.

Yeah we've had it for 3+ weeks now, I hate the stuff but I have a unique beer pallet. Can't wait for winter to roll around for some Bourbon County Stout.

I still have one in the fridge. Stop talking about it, I can't afford to drink that stuff!!!

Back to the OP, I had a really good Octoberfest made by Short's brewery called Noble Chaos. As for the pumpkins I had some Dogfish Head but was just as impressed by Buffalo Bill's pumpkin.

I also had a robust porter from Thirsty Dog called Old Leghumper that was really really good.

Am I missing something here? Why are people comparing 'Punkin Ale' to 'Oktoberfest'? Aren't they two completely different styles? (Yes, I know it is a festival as well) I don't understand why people are saying 'Sam Adams is shit' when comparing it to Punkin Ale. What you should really be saying is that Oktoberfest is shit compared to Punkin Ale.

OK, I think I'm being a beer snob this morning. :p

Yes, very. But they come out about the same time.

I guess I'm having trouble with the comparison of 'punkin ale' to 'sam adams' then. Does that mean they have tried other Octoberfest beers or just the Sam? I just hope people don't think Sam Adams = Octoberfest beer, although they do make a great batch some years and this year seems to be pretty good based on the 12-pack I bought last weekend. :)

Sorry Mosh...anything that comes out of the Sam Adam's brewery is going to spank the ultra-macro Coors brewery.

I cringe and die a little inside whenever I see someone lugging a case of Coors product around the supermarket. There is bad, barely passable beer (Budweiser products), and then there is Coors, an abomination so awful that it is nearly a crime to mention it in the same sentence with a real beer such as a Sam Adams product.

I'm going to have to try some of this, as I don't recall trying it before. I LOVE Sam Adams Winterfest and I bet this stuff rocks.

Well that's good because it's neither dark, nor heavy.

An imperial stout...now that's a dark and heavy beer.

I've got a case of Sam's October in the fridge. It's a touch sweeter than previous years and a little bit lighter on the hops. Good stuff for something you can pick up at Walmart.
