Well, considering the truck that wrecked and spilled penguins into the Texas countryside, I don't think such an encounter is totally unrealistic 🙂

It was moving some animals to a different zoo while the one they normally stayed at was renovated. Some of the penguins died 🙁

now that would be interesting

was watching the discovery channel and they were talking about mechalodon shark that was just massive and supposedly ruled the oceans for awhile, good stuff hehe

Right, because a shark would let a croc hold him in place...?

It's not like once the shark stops moving, he dies instantly.

I think it's definitely a guy thing to be amused by this stuff.

As for the battle: tough call and a case can be made for both but as others have said, it depends on the environment. I think in a shallow pool of water, just enough for the shark to be covered, the croc takes it. Would likely be able to do some damage to the sharks flesh. However, don't underestimate the power of the bite of the shark when he's that big. If the shark caught the croc at the right angle, it could do some serious damage with one good chomp. Not sure the croc could even get it's mouth around a shark of that size.

Slight lean to the croc but it's anyone's fight to win.

I'm quite aware of that, thanks. I'm trying to come up with scenarios in which a croc could kill the shark. Do you have any other suggestions?

Nope, not at all. Since it wasn't a feasible scenario, I guess a croc can't win 😉

Whichever one strikes first, with a small margin for the croc to come back after being bitten first since its probably a lot more agile and Im guessing it could just turn and bite the shark, where as the shark can only try and swim free, and there aint no way its wiggling out of a crocs grip.

On one hand the shark has speed, but on the other hand the croc has stealth and a better chance of fighting back.

my prediction:
1. shark bites first, croc bites back, they both get f'ed/die.
2. croc bites first, shark dies.


edit: IIRC great whites are warm blooded, so depending on the environment the shark could have a real advantage for striking first.

Yep, was just about to post this. On the show, they said Jaws would win. The croc would grab the shark and sink(the death roll, plus it's instinct is to drown it's prey), and almost kill the shark (since they need to constantly move to breathe), but would let go of the shark to swim to the surface to breathe itself. The shark would them come back and grab the crock from below at speed and bite it in half.
