you mean to tell me billionaires do NOT control the American justice system?
No, I refuse to believe it.
Something else happened here. Did they piss off another billionaire?
DAMN THEM!!!Nah, they're going to get a better deal. It just hasn't been announced yet.
It allowed the Sacklers time to hide their $$ , death by a thousand paper cuts (or lawsuits) is coming thoughholy fucking shit!

And yet here I am, unable to get guardianship/custody of my granddaughters for some strange reason. What good is having billions of $$$ if you can't buy yourself some favorable legal decisions?
bankruptcy court jurisdiction is a pretty complex matter (or a fucking mess, more accurately) and the district court, under which the bankruptcy court sits, determined this was outside the bankruptcy court's authority.holy fucking shit!

The stimulus money that is supposed to be going towards the girls, goes into their dad's account, who claims he needs it because he's living in a car.
What does he do with the money from this month?? Goes and buys a Nintendo Switch.. GD POS.
yup, due to a technicalitybankruptcy court jurisdiction is a pretty complex matter (or a fucking mess, more accurately) and the district court, under which the bankruptcy court sits, determined this was outside the bankruptcy court's authority.

The Bankruptcy Court lacked the statutory authority to give the Sackler family those protections and they are not permitted under the bankruptcy code, Judge Colleen McMahon of the Southern District of New York ruled Thursday.
How is it that a company can admit to crimes being committed but no individual faces charges? Did the company become sentient and self-aware?
jurisdiction isn't really a technicality.yup, due to a technicality
I suppose you're right.jurisdiction isn't really a technicality.
I can understand that. But what if they can't help being the way they are. Wouldn't it require a belief, not only that they are guilty sinning as a matter of choice, but also that you have a right or a capacity to judge that? I know it is easier to see thing simply as moral quandary leads anxiety and doubt and evokes unwelcome personal conscience, no?Absolute fucking bullshit.
I hate that family with every fiber of my being.
I can understand that. But what if they can't help being the way they are.
Yes, I can, ideally. But what is it that we are excusing. Just because a person has a mental illness does not excuse society from a obligation to prevent a seriously sick and irresponsible person from acting out that sickness once the seriousness of the consequences prove dangerous to other people. At worst we are obliged to isolate people like that from free social interaction. The may require institutionalization or jail. The only difference between blame and responsible action to prevent the evil of insane actions is that the latter requires no hatred or blame. The aim shouldn't be punishment but an effort to restore and heal people like that.I give up, what?
Can you understand the disease of alcoholism excusing vehicular homicide? I can't.
