Weird. According to this, I make $86,953. But I don't work for State of California. Nor do I live there.

You know, as far fetched as it might sound, some people do have the same name.

That was in the news a few days ago and had a lot of negative publicity about how it's considered invasion of privacy, etc. Anyone else working for the state besides me?

You work for the gov't. ie: the public sector. Its SUPPOSED to be public knowledge.

I agree with you. Others were complaining that the info is now much easier to find.

Typical of the government. 😉

how is that a viable complaint? That's ridiculous (redundant for state employee I realize)

I'd be greatly surprised if that were true. I work with State employees in California that make less than that.

I have been looking up names all morning with my boss haha. It kinda seems like an invasion of privacy. but it is great fun.

Seriously...many make a LOT less than $40K.

I agree that the state needs to make salary information available as public information, but they should NOT be including the names of the people and how much they earn individually, only by job classification.

yet I should know the name of every state employee and their position in public service right? So then I could just cross reference?

Ha ha! Wow, this is great i just looked up my old advisors, committee members, associates, everyone i knew at UC Berkeley.

My relative is a physics prof with 15 years exp. only makes 64K base, less then I made 7 years ago straight outta school 🙁
No wonder his wife left him 😉

Wow... thats a shallow comment. There's more to life (and marriage) than salary.

there's this lady who sits in the row of desks across from me. about every hour she nods off and falls asleep at her desk. she has her database screens open all day to the opening menu and it stays there like 75% of the day. In fact, i'm looking across at her right now and she's nodded off.

she makes more than me 🙁

Anyone else see the irony here?

How about being able to look up the salary range for a particular job without the actual name of the employee?
