As of February, about 17,500 permanent, full-time state employees made six-figure base salaries ? about one of every 14.

Four years ago, barely three dozen California state workers earned a base salary of more than $200,000. Today, as the state faces a fiscal crisis, close to 1,000 state workers make that much.

:Q

Shit, my aunt is making BANK. So is her husband... Their kids are going to be spoiled rotten.

My uncle's making pretty good money too.

AL G. SMITH - CUSTODIAN - EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPT - $30,588.00

he makes almost as much as i do and he's a custodian.../embarrassed

How do you feel about having your name in there ?

I think I would be pretty pissed off. Then again, I'm sure if a shareholder in my company asked for a salary breakdown they would get it as well.

where's the governator?

When he first got elected, he refused to take a salary. Not sure if that is still the case or not.

there's this lady who sits in the row of desks across from me. about every hour she nods off and falls asleep at her desk. she has her database screens open all day to the opening menu and it stays there like 75% of the day. In fact, i'm looking across at her right now and she's nodded off.

she makes more than me 🙁

I work for the state (NV, and AZ in the past not CA) and my salary/info has to be posted like this. In fact if you work for the state in ANY state this info is supposed to be made available (not necessarily online) as its peoples tax dollars and it has to be public record where that money goes.

You need to give her your username.

Heh, that's because they added physicians at universities to the list. Everyone in my dept. makes 200-300K, that's about 35 people right there.

Heh, here's my boss

Agency or University UC DAVIS
Job Title PROF OF CLIN___-MEDCOMP-A
Base Pay $183,420.90
Overtime $0.00
Gross Pay $327,843.95

Public sector employee salaries are supposed to be available to the public. This just makes it much easier to look up.

When I was working for a school district my salary info was freely available. That said, I was only making $8 an hour 😉

A few years ago they put up a similar list for employees in the UC system. IIRC, there was a big stink about some huge bonuses people were pulling down at the same time they were raising tuition for students.

That was in the news a few days ago and had a lot of negative publicity about how it's considered invasion of privacy, etc. Anyone else working for the state besides me?

I'm pretty sure every state has this (and if not on the Intertubes, it's available in hardcopy....) We use it for collection purposes 🙂

You work for the gov't. ie: the public sector. Its SUPPOSED to be public knowledge.

I agree with you. Others were complaining that the info is now much easier to find.

My job title has always been searchable. It's a little disconcerting that my name is attached to it now but in the great scheme of life, it's not a major issue.
