S.T.A.L.K.E.R. my next attempt to finish it

Good luck. Was a boring slog for me; both times I tried I never really got that far.

I learned the hard way that it is very important to trade a lot to get as much as money as possible first before advancing towards Pripyat.
To get the best weapons and shielding.
I do like it that this is not a game where you can just go in guns blazing.
Some games you can just shoot and run your way through. This game really requires that you duck and seek cover. I also learned that the hard way.
And i am just doing it on setting stalker.

I love the game, but I've never got past this creepy underground level (Lab X18 I think) because it terrifies the living shit out of me.

I'm going to try again soon, but last time I installed it my saves were screwed up. Some of them would appear in the list, but disappear if I scrolled down or tried to select them. I think it might have been because they were made on a PC with a different Windows user account, and it uses that to name them. Also, the shadows were messing up in my peripheral vision even with r2_sun_near_border 1.

Yeah holy shit some of those underground levels were creepy, the atmosphere in that game in my opinion is one of the best ever created.

Loved Shadow of Chernobyl and played through it several times. I played through and finished Clear Sky, but the third one in the series; Call of Pripyat, just didnt do it for me. I got bored with it quickly and never came anywhere close to finishing it.

I am in the underground level as well. With the floating cubes and growling.
The ambience is great and scary.
I do am used to a game called "The suffering".
That is a real scary game.
Also "Clive Barker's Jericho" seems a good game that i am going to buy soon.
An oldie game called "Clive Barker's Undying" is also a great game and very scary.
I do not have enough bullets, so i have a predicament here.
I found the meat chunk artifact. It is in one of the rooms of the underground level. 🙂 I now have to get the documents and make it out alive.

I have a retail version, an original dvd i purchased. I did not notice the shadows as weird.

Man, the first time I was in the tunnels and that semi-transparent predator-like thing popped up behind me I almost croaked right in my chair.

awesome game, I only got maybe 5 hours into it, though, before something else came up that took up all of my time. Can't remember what, though

you need to play FEAR. you'd love it.
or die. you might die.

idk, try it and see.

@OP, you should must try the Complete mod. It fixes almost 100% of the various bugs and makes the game alltogether better (not easier, as some would say).

Seconded. The first STALKER was very buggy for me, and Clear Sky just not worth playing. Complete fixed both. On the other hand, I hella hated the Lost Alpha mod.

I've never finished Stalker either. It's not run and gun enough for me.

And yes the original F.E.A.R. is a classic.

I just never understood peoples love of F.E.A.R. I played it when it first came out and thought it ended up being just a mediocre FPS. Not bad by any stretch, but I thought Far Cry was far better.
