my first was CS so i did CS->CoP->SoC and i liked shadows of chernobyl the best. i think in pacing it's by far the better one, and the story / environments have a flow to them thats creepy yet enjoyable.

compared to the last level in CS which was literally "omfg what game is this and why is it in my stalker".

Yeah, once I get to "Stop Strelok" part, I just shut it down. Not only is it incredibly annoying, the portals are ridiculously loud. First time I went through one I ripped off my headphones and literally had a ringing in my ears for the rest of the day. Awful.

I just finished Clear Sky and wow was that ending level terrible. So far the first STALKER is the best for me, I'm moving onto Call of Pripyat next.

Yeah, Clear Sky is clearly the weakest link in the series. Without Complete, I consider it not worth playing at all.

Ain't i a dope sometimes... I am playing stalker Chernobyl for the last few days...
I am now in the red forest in the bunker trying to deactivate the brain scorcher.
And now i just found out that those little cases open when you shoot them or knife them and that they are filled with goodies... :confused:o_O:eek::rolleyes:

I must have seen hundreds of them by now...

Yes....at least hundreds of passed up goodies! There are a lot in the starting village that definitely help you get on your way. ;)

I thought it was alright game compared to the first, going back to the same areas kind of killed the exploration part but it was interesting to see the landscape before it got even more messed up. The swamps were awesome though, that was a really nicely designed area.

Haha I had a similar experience, I think I figured that out like 10hrs into the game.

The game does have a few bugs. But what really annoyes me is that when i press the button to keep crouching and sneeking that it sometimes does not respond. So i end up running giving myself away.

Now i think i remember, why i never finished it. I am near Chernobyl NPP and every time i do a quicksave, the game crashes. I cannot get any further. :(.

Well, i made a run for it. without saving and i did get past all the tanks, troopers and helicopters, barely. I guessed that when the helicopters where gone, i could use the quicksave again and that hunch turned out to be correct.
To be honest, i do not care much about this game anymore. I just want to finish it as quickly as possible and remove it. Then i can start with Clive Barker's Jericho.

My problem is that i like to be to well prepared so my stalker is constantly exhausted. All gear weighs in at around 57kg and i need to be less then 50 to run forever with all anomaly power ups engaged. Without a radiation suit or armor, gear would be light but i would not get passed the radiation zones.

An oldie game called "Clive Barker's Undying" is also a great game and very scary.

Agreed. I liked the STALKER games, but there is a strong RPG element and if you are more into FPS type games, some RPG elements can be a slog. One oldie I really liked was Painkiller gold ed...if you can find it. Steam version (PK Black) did not work well on my computer...just froze the game.

I carried a single suit throughout the game and was always well under 50kg. I could sprint from one end of the map to the other without using any energy drinks.

I've finished the game three times and I never had crashes in that section. Are you overclocking anything and/or using third party mods?

i ended it at max diff. not so hard if u re good on fps and to avoid danger.

for most of the game you cant kill pple/monsters because you need too many bullets

You can modify the max weight by changing the values for the max_weight value in actor.ltx (located in ...gamedata\configs\creatures\) and system.ltx (located in ...gamedata\configs\).

If you're playing with Complete mod, these files will already be visible, if not, you'll need to extract the packed files in the gamedata directory.

No. No mods, no overclocking. I had been looking for updates and patches. And there are. But i had no idea to which version i have. I looked around in the log file stalker creates but it does not mention which version i have. It might very well be that the solution is already there. But i did not have a clue which version i have. Just found out where to look, left corner of menu screen.

EDIT:
But of course, it is not there...

Looking further, an "Aha" moment is in place :) :

Basically by right when you buy the game itself, it is unpatched.

Just look at either the bottom lefthand or righthand corner of your screen when you load Stalker. If it is unpatched u will not see any version number.

Once u patch it to either 1.0004 or 1.0005, the version number will display itself on the bottom lefthand/righthand corner.

Well, that is a bummer. After installing the update, all my savedgames no longer function. The game says they are corrupted. Alas. I am going to de-install it and install a game i like more.

EDIT:

I will re install stalker without the update first and see if i can finish it...

That did the trick, i de-installed the game and then re-installed the game without the update and it works again. That is kind of stupid, to create an update that breaks the saved games.
All i have to do now is setup the keybinding.
