You know what would be nice, when you through a grenade, that depending on the angle and if your on the right or left side of a corner that the character throws the grenade from the opposite hand. With stalker every time, that character trows the grenade against the wall, killing me or throws like a girl.

The last level is one of the most atmospheric parts of the game, just make sure you are well equipped because its going to be rough otherwise, also hopefully you did some important things in Pripyat before you go to the plant.

I really wanted a kickstarter campaign for next stalker game. These guys had so many good ideas but shortage of means.

My problem is that i like to be to well prepared so my stalker is constantly exhausted. All gear weighs in at around 57kg and i need to be less then 50 to run forever with all anomaly power ups engaged. Without a radiation suit or armor, gear would be light but i would not get passed the radiation zones.

just get one really good gun, a reasonable amount of ammo (not, you know, like in RPGs, where you carry a bajllion rounds for everything), and one suit of armor.
are you still using a pistol as secondary gun ?

That was disappointing. All he wanted was to be rich.

no lol. all YOU wanted was to be rich.
there are 6~7 endings, based on your choices as player.

yeah, the endings and explanations are available in the zone survival guide.
It sure is a nice game. I do wonder that there is still a lot of improvement possible in first person shooters. Throwing grenades with the proper hand depending on if you lean left or right around a corner. Half life 2 like puzzles and interaction with the environment.

What i did like about stalker was blowing up gas tanks when the enemy approached them. That was fun, lure them out and then shoot that gastank. Or make them hide in a room and then throw a grenade. Yeah, i am evil. But it is just a game.

It really helps out to get the "Realistic Weapons" config file (installs by default with Complete).

Less need to haul around gobs of ammo because shooting NPCs actually kills them.

my simple advice is to :
1. not use a pistol. thats 1 1/2 Kg and the ammo, it's a complete waste of space.
2. save your AP ammo for when the shit gets real, and use only ONE caliber.

i prefer the M16 to the AK (or whatever they are called.); the snipers are great fun but unpractical.
same goes for the late game weapons - i admit they are cool, but they are not as effective.
the bulldog has almost no ammo in the game, and it's awkward to use properly.
the Thunder hits hard, but has too much recoil, bad sights, meh flight trajectory, small mag.
the VAL and Vintorez have bad range, small mags, and while the damage is high (and they are suppressed) the flight trajectory is horrible.

the two top tier 5.56 guns are just so much better, more so in the games where you upgrade them, if not, then the special versions. the bullets fly far, straight, and they have extreme accuracy and low recoil.

The weight problem isn't big enough to not carry an extra gun or 2 like a pistol with multiple ammo types. A pistol or some other secondary weapon is very useful because reloading isn't instant and a pistol is helpful in dispatching a wounded enemy instead risking damage while reloading. Maybe the previous poster was lugging around extra armor or too much food.

End game weapons like the gauss rifle are awesome and very useful. The VLA/Vintorez are one of the top weapons, they are suppressed scoped rifles and the bullet drop is dealt with by using the scope bullet drop marks and
learning how to compensate with iron sights.

-----------

Starting out with at veteran difficulty (master is abit too difficult) would be the key advice for new players. Veteran improves the accuracy of weapons (and makes it more dangerous) so the early game isn't frustrating when players keep missing with crap weapons. Installing mods to improve base accuracy would break the game later when better weapons are acquired.

I can't finish this game or even make it 1/4 way through. It difficult to know where to go and if you don't turn in the quest on time, you literally fail the quest. I don't like hand-holding but I don't like it being difficult either.

That would be my first kickstarter contribution. I would love another S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Game.

I loved all except Clear Sky, but Complete makes a great game really great. And Clear Sky enjoyable.

Seconded. The first STALKER was very buggy for me, and Clear Sky just not worth playing. Complete fixed both. On the other hand, I hella hated the Lost Alpha mod.

A third vote for the Complete mods. I played all three STALKER games with the Complete mod and everything ran well - even Clear Sky. Makes it very pretty, to boot.

STALKER has the best lighting of any game I've ever played.

I think I got stuck at an airport where some stupid chopper kept killing me. Was a great game until that happened.

That was hard.
Don't try to take the chopper down, try running along the left side. Run fast, stop to shoot only when you have to.

weight also affects your running speed and stamina consumption.

anyway, i have no problem zipping through all 3 of the stalkers with the gear setup i have described above. because the 5.56 guns are so ridiculously accurate, no problem tapping a double headshot half a mile away.

the hospital section (clear sky? not sure) will require many reloads no matter what gear you got, simply because the enemies have Thunder and AK74 and they just pop out of cover and hit you like a truck.

oh btw, greandes are useless as well. just aim properly and dont hold fire full auto.

I find the grenades useful for taking out controllers (pop into the doorway, throw grenade, pop back before you get "controlled").

But other than that - yeah, they weigh a lot, so I don't normally carry.

there's basically two scripted controller encounters in 3 games, if i recall correctly. and i have discovered through trial, error and a bucket of tears, that a quicksave well before the entity gets loaded is the best approach.

controllers have an attack script and a roam script; when they roam, they are useless and you can kill them easily just by attacking them brutally with one of several weapons.
when they are in attack script, you are in real trouble and can find yourself in stunlock form their control ability.

if you get to the point where the controller is attacking you, just reload.
otherwise, pump them full of lead. (or anything else you might have; grenades are a good idea, i didn't have any at the time)

The game had it's cool moments but too sparingly imo. What I hated most about the series was going out at night and exploring buildings only to find they were completely empty, kinda took the creepiness out of it once I realized that most of the cool encounters and creepy stuff was a bit sparse....this especially with Pripyat. Clear sky wasn't creepy at all and only a few cool battles.

But the graphics, even modded are a bit too dated for me to get back into again. I kind of hope Fallout 4 will have some of that creepiness vibe to it.

There are four in CoP. One you can skip, one you probably should do
the artifact in the train tunnel for the scientists
, then two towards the end.

But yeah, grenades work well for them if they're close enough.

It's a beautiful game especially for its level of performance.

I'd donate for that too.

Maybe you play as Strider from CoP, try to infiltrate/take down Monolith.
I wouldn't even really care about the plot, as long as it isn't bizarrely stupid. I don't think any of them had really great plots, but the world and atmosphere are sublime, they are graphically beautiful (especially after applying Complete), and the combat is satisfying - especially after applying Complete.

Yeah, I agree. Just gimme a desolate creepy background, missions and weps. Let me drink vodka and kill lots of bandits...

The cool thing about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the story is there. It's not blatantly laid out, but it has a deep science-fiction base. I think this series will always go down as games that had amazing potential, but never quite reached what they wanted to achieve. Technical hurdles, poor funding, a sh*tty publisher, etc...

Overall, it's still my favorite IP in PC gaming. Despite all its shortcomings there is absolutely no other PC game like it, and I never get tired of visiting The Zone in an attempt to recapture that feeling.

If a dev really committed to rehashing this series via Kickstarter, I would duct tape their mouths and rob a thousand convenience stores to stuff their pockets full of every dollar I could find.

I love the game, but I've never got past this creepy underground level (Lab X18 I think) because it terrifies the living shit out of me.

I'm going to try again soon, but last time I installed it my saves were screwed up. Some of them would appear in the list, but disappear if I scrolled down or tried to select them. I think it might have been because they were made on a PC with a different Windows user account, and it uses that to name them. Also, the shadows were messing up in my peripheral vision even with r2_sun_near_border 1.

I hate it when I'm playing a game I love that I am really into but I find myself in a spot that's 'extra creepy' or abrasive for some reason, and it's also extra difficult. I end up having to stay there and play it over and over and it stresses me out.
