WHAT?!?! Of course I'm biased, but I think the late 90's fox bodies were very good looking. As for the 2005...eh.

agreed. the mustang driver was just better at driving from the sounds of it, the rx-7 was even probably running an automatic tranny, either that or the driver was long on the throw.
hell I ran a race against a dipsh!t with my old 89 ranger 2.3litre against a 96 chevy 1/2 ton with a 4.3litre and dogged him on the quarter, just because he had an automatic, and I was a good line driver. (ran a few quarters on my dad's tricked out mustang) of course the chevy would have beaten the sh!t out of the ranger if we hadn't started from a complete stop.....I still can't beleive he wanted to race stock pos's in the first place.

How the hell is he a "better driver"?? Its a rolling start, there is no "better". You just put the hammer down and hang on.

As for the Fox, I do think he had something else up his sleeve for a 147k car that pulls on the highway like that. But thats besides the point. Maybe its just a factory freak.
Yeah, from my experience, 5.0 Fox bodies suck from a roll compared to what they can do down low, 0-60, etc... For a "stock" 5.0 to hang with a much lighter, much more aerodynamic RX-7, I'd say the Mustang has to have had *something* done to it

"I need a new clutch!" "My AC was on!" "I need a tune up, dog!"

No, you need a bigger engine... dog.

I think the Camaro had lost to the Acura.

The taillights on the other car looked like a CL, not a Camaros.

Yeah, the vid is taken from the Z28

EDIT - holy crap that video was sad... "I've got an f'd up plug"

Well fix it before you race or else STFU

"Ohh I had the AC on, that's what made me lose"

AC won't make you lose to a CL by 5 car lenghts :p

with a standard tranny, it's all in the shifting.

Not from the start. He was in the gear he needed. It was a simple twitch of the foot then hang on. And shifting with a manual versus an auto will ALWAYS be slower on the roll. From the line the manuals can be milked a bit and get better results but on the roll I'd take an auto every single time.

I bet that RX7 owner would have really bitched running against my old '72 vega. It had a little ol' 327 backed up by a reverse shift PowerGlide tranny that would run 13's @ 120 all day long! Other than the engine and tranny the car was stone stock!

Can't say I know what was up, but my stock (actually, has a cat back) '94 RX-7 has beaten every standard f body I've raced on the highway (maybe 3 or 4, looked stock).

Could that movie have been a little more interesting? I don't even know what happened. It was a couple of closely matched cars. One lost. Then the rest of the video was dark with some baby swearing about something... :p

from the looks of the backfire when he left off I would personally say he's running no cats at the very least... probably a bit of exhaust work done to it.

I love seeing these guys with those big, loud exhausts on their little four banger imports. It's the equivalent of taping a baseball card to a bike and pretending it's a motorcycle.

there's something about just sitting in a stock 5.0 'Stang as its bein floored. The aural sensation and the torque just make it feel FAST!

you hear the rumble turn into a growl turn into this deep cyclic sounds..its just awesome.

I love V8!

You are grossly mistaken. I KNOW Acura CLs, and the head/taillights on the car that pulls ahead is an from a 97-99 CL. Take a look at pictures of the head/taillights from CLs and compare them to a 94 Camaro; night and day.

Yep, I noticed that too - you don't see that happen with a factory exhaust that often ;)

That has absolutely nothing to do with the video posted

A) The CL waxed that Camaro
B) That CL isn't a 4 cyl

Yeah the car that one was the acura CL, the loser was the z28

You guys are right. I misread the quote from the other forum. Though the Acura had naaaaaaaaawz!!

Yeah...the pure fact of the matter is that you are totally wrong. When you are talking about stock or slightly modified cars, turbos and superchargers can be more than enough to make up for displacement when you figure in weight. The mustang stock would have come with about 225 hp...compared to the possible 255 hp of the rotary engine. I am actually all for big V8's typically, but a 5.0 is definetely not a big V8 and doesn't crank out much in the way of power in this car. If that car was stock with only exhaust...it could make 260 at the most...which would still get beat by the 255 hp and lighter weight. The Mustang guy has a heavily modded car (but I agree no NOS) or the RX7 guy doesn't know how to drive at all. For anyone who thinks driving is not a factor because you are 'on a roll', you gotta be kidding me, it's huge...knowing your cars shiftpoints, it's torque curve, the speed of your shifts, how quickly you dump the clutch...if he did any one of those things wrong it could have easily lost him that race.

Z06 Vette > RX7 > Mustang

(Ford is how do you say it?...The suck)
