I have no idea but the implications sure are interesting. I think the best solution would be to offer Russia statehood. Time for Republicans to embrace comradery and make Russia a state, not an enemy. I mean, we will go to the ends of the earth and face all kinds of political heat to get their babies, why not go for the whole hog?

Poe's law applies here.

And I am supposed to worry why if people take it seriously? You constantly attribute to me what you project on me. What is the difference to a mirror what others see?

Just because you're a religious zealot doesn't mean anyone stating the obvious is. I was just curious if the self-parody was intentional or not; evidently not.

Currently 419-3 in favour in the house vote. It would be stupid to veto and add to the narrative with such overwhelming support in both houses.

Successful pocket veto looking more likely to me, especially if Ryan or McConnell adjourn their branch in order to facilitate Trump's anticipated firing and replacement of Sessions.

Our country is sliding fast now.

One hell of a pickle now for Trump. Sign it and Russia could dump kompromat plus cause other sundry problems. Veto it and the first major legislation that hits your desk could well fall victim to an embarrassing override.

Bigly people. Bigly.

Putin is already putting pressure on Merkel and the EU...they are not supportive of additional sanctions on Russia. That gives Trump an out.

Merkel doesn't want more sanctions because it could hurt certain European companies. That isn't much cover for Trump when 98% of the US Congress has voted in favor of this bill. Trump can hardly use the welfare of European companies as a reason to veto something with this much support in our Congress.

That said, he may veto it anyway. He's Trump.

Passes by huge veto proof majority. No way anyone in their right mind would veto.

Verdict: Trump veto incoming

Especially since the "Pittsburgh not Paris" campaign was such a smashing success.

Vlad knew there might be some setbacks, given who he was working with. He's a patient man.

Lol. There is a signing statement for this but there is also a signing statement for the signing statement which was obviously written personally by Trump. Only chunks of it are posted do far but:

Hmmm...
http://theweek.com/speedreads/71598...g-calls-significantly-flawed-unconstitutional

Moments after signing into law additional sanctions on Russia — including limits to the president's ability to walk back such sanctions without congressional approval — President Trump ripped the legislation in a statement, calling it "significantly flawed" and "unconstitutional."

"While I favor tough measures to punish and deter aggressive and destabilizing behavior by Iran, North Korea, and Russia, this legislation is significantly flawed," Trump wrote. "In its haste to pass this legislation, the Congress included a number of clearly unconstitutional provisions." Trump added that his administration "particularly expects the Congress to refrain from using this flawed bill to hinder our important work with European allies to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and from using it to hinder our efforts to address any unintended consequences it may have for American businesses, our friends, or our allies."

Well, he may have a point on how limits to rolling back sanctions imposed by Legislative branch on the Executive would be subject to some sort of constitutional review, but not sure how that would happen. Can the White House just file a lawsuit? Would it go to Federal district court or would it immediately be rushed up to SCOTUS?
