Just slightly surprised they face any tariffs at all.
Dictatorships gets a discount...
Trade tariffs imposed on tiny Australian territories that are either uninhabited or claim to have no trading relationship with the US appear to have been calculated based on erroneous trade data.
In some cases involving Norfolk Island, which is 1,600km north-east of Sydney and has a population of 2,188, the confusion appears to have resulted from the fact that the company’s address or port of departure is Norfolk, UK, or the destination is Norfolk, Virginia in the US, or a company’s registered address in New Hampshire (NH) has been listed instead as Norfolk Island (NI).
in 2024 Cuba exported 4.9 million to usa and nearly 100% embargo on imports from north korea. No tariffs on North Korea or Cuba (though presumably neither of them export anything of significance to the US? Are they sanctioned already?). Curiously, Israel gets the 10% treatment.
Americans should only be buying domestically grown coffee!in 2024 Cuba exported 4.9 million to usa and nearly 100% embargo on imports from north korea.
Btw these tariffs were calculated to reduce american spending on imports and force american purchases (even where not possible). The whole thing was ding dong with huge cost on americans and doom to failure (imho)
Yea, you can't just impose this on day 1. You would have to ramp it up and provide companies years to move manufacturing back to the US. The question they failed to ask before going on this adventure is do Americans even want jobs assembling shoes and stitching t-shirts?in 2024 Cuba exported 4.9 million to usa and nearly 100% embargo on imports from north korea.

They very clearly did it based on internet domain which is how we ended up enacting tariffs on our own military bases or uninhabited islands.![]()
Not that Norfolk! Mislabelled shipments led to Trump tariffs on uninhabited islands and remote outposts with no US trade
Exclusive: Aquarium systems, Timberland boots and recycling plant parts were mislabelled as coming from remote Norfolk Island or Heard and McDonald islandswww.theguardian.com
Indoor pot, indoor coffee. There was a guy out here near where I live who did just that. Both.Americans should only be buying domestically grown coffee!

It is worse than that; as Trump also cut off all aid to those countries - the same sort of double whamy on both poor in usa and poor countries...OK at this point it seems well-established they just used an utterly nonsensical mathematical formula (tariff-rate = trade-deficit divided by value-of-what-country-buys-from-US, then halved, then treated as a percentage for some weird reason).
And the worst of it (IMO) is that it ends up imposing massive tariffs on extremely poor countries like Cambodia or Sri Lanka, largely because those countries are too poor to want to buy the things the US tends to export, so the denominator is small.
This is just vicious cruelty. Imposing still more suffering on countries that are already in a bad situation. Everything else aside, the US needs to be treated as a pariah state for this.
