Trade tariffs imposed on tiny Australian territories that are either uninhabited or claim to have no trading relationship with the US appear to have been calculated based on erroneous trade data.

In some cases involving Norfolk Island, which is 1,600km north-east of Sydney and has a population of 2,188, the confusion appears to have resulted from the fact that the company’s address or port of departure is Norfolk, UK, or the destination is Norfolk, Virginia in the US, or a company’s registered address in New Hampshire (NH) has been listed instead as Norfolk Island (NI).

No tariffs on North Korea or Cuba (though presumably neither of them export anything of significance to the US? Are they sanctioned already?). Curiously, Israel gets the 10% treatment.
in 2024 Cuba exported 4.9 million to usa and nearly 100% embargo on imports from north korea.

Btw these tariffs were calculated to reduce american spending on imports and force american purchases (even where not possible). The whole thing was ding dong with huge cost on americans and doom to failure (imho)

Yea, you can't just impose this on day 1. You would have to ramp it up and provide companies years to move manufacturing back to the US. The question they failed to ask before going on this adventure is do Americans even want jobs assembling shoes and stitching t-shirts?

They very clearly did it based on internet domain which is how we ended up enacting tariffs on our own military bases or uninhabited islands.

It’s not just that their ideas are bad, it’s that they are utterly incompetent.

Another night, another Russian bombing campaign across Ukraine.
It is madness that this sort of bombing campaign is not occurring in Moscow.

Russia is right now double tapping Kryvyi Rih with Shahed kamikaze drones. Right after killing kids with ballistic missiles, they are probably trying to hit the rescue workers.
  • Kryvyi Rih. Friday evening. (NSFL) A mother sits next to the body of her dead son, holding the hand from which the last warmth slips away, second by second.
