They met and Erdogan went home empty handed. Which if you understand that man at all is not the way he likes to be. Probably not thrilled Putin wasted his time traveling to Sochi.

Been seeing reports here and there how Putin is going begging for arms and ammo from, of all people, Kim Jong un. I mean, I feel confident that DPRK's hardware and consumables aren't anywhere near up to what would be considered the norm by today's standards so it does speak to the desperate state of things that Putin is in, yes?

Might I be wrong in assuming that Russia's state of readiness and capabilities have sunken down to what the DPRK's own current arms capabilities are?

There was already a report that ukraine captured some north korean weapons (I think shells) and they were so poor they were afraid to use them (misfired alot/inaccurate/...).

I don't know how the Russians handle hang fires, especially about the large caliber stuff but I used to watch mortar crews bail out of their pits on hang fires (rare but short rounds more common) and watched the ripple effect on the folks dive for cover around them (including me). Sometimes those pricks would prank us just for the giggles. Learned stay as far away as possible from those tubes.

I used to watch war movies how a grunt's rifle would jam a round in the chamber and he'd immediately try to extract it. I imagine the weapons tech on set would laugh his ass off every time the director told him to do that.

I was only an AF desk jockey, but I wouldn't willingly touch a misfired round with my hands, especially if they came from a questionable source. Maybe manual fire again, then try to dump it out of the chamber?

I would not be at all surprised if Kim sends Putin a lot of manpower for the right price either.
Not that NK forces will be any more reliable than NK weapons but it'll let him say that he has support from the international community.

Still...even though the newly mobilized troops are going to be basically untrained and poorly equipped, human waves have resulted in success many times in history and should not be underestimated.

Since I have very little experience with firearms, what does one do with a round jammed in the chamber?

Depends on the urgency of the situation. Well this is my foggy recollection going all the way back to the 60's when the legacy M16 would jam a lot, especially when you really didn't need it to be. So first thing in a general sense of things is to wait maybe somewhere less than a minute, drop the mag out, determine if its a hang or a misfire. If it's a hang the bolt has cocked a round in the breech before it got chambered or the extractor jammed it on the way out. If so, pull the bolt back locked, safe it and hopefully the round will drop out. If not try to safely pry it out with some kind of tool which will usually be another round from the mag. If misfire, drop the mag, push the assist a few times, rack the charging handle and see if the round got pinned or not. If not pinned release the bolt and fire. If no joy then now this is where things can go differently depending on who you ask. The way I was taught was to use a cleaning rod or range rod and tap the round out from the muzzle end.

Proviso: Seeing as if I haven't fired an AR type in a couple of decades, my memory may be flawed or procedures may have changed since I retired out.

Maybe in certain situations, but a couple of points;

• Human waves are effectively nullified by cluster munitions
• Russian artillery is close to being a spent force
• Russian drones will increasing be countered by deliveries such as the Australian Silnger systems (110 units are being shipped to Ukraine) mounted on M113's
• F16's will be in the air when/if North Korean equipped Russian mobilised might be ready to take to the field. I suspect Ukraine will have air superiority shortly after they are introduced to the battle fronts.
• None of the Russian mobilised actually wants to fight

If DPRK supplies substantial munitions and equipment to Russia for the war then ROK will likely do the same for Ukraine.

It’s pretty close.

If you’re in need of a functioning rifle in a big hurry you’re probably just gonna run the charging handle and hope for the best as stage one.

If you aren’t in a hurry, wait at least 5-10 seconds for hangfires. Then run the charging handle, if it ejects great. If it doesn’t eject you’ll leave the bolt back, drop the mag, and work on getting it out.

If not then yeah you might try to pry it out, or you might close the bolt again and mortar the gun.

Hangfires are only likely to harm you if they go off between unlocking the bolt and getting the round out of the gun. Once the round has nothing supporting most of the casing it’s relatively harmless.

Our artillery shortage is the only reason that would ever work in the modern era.
Sadly, that will remain the case for several years.

I recall some guys got so frustrated with the jamming problem that somewhere along the trip back to the hooches, they'd clear their 16's, grab'um by the barrel and do a few Babe Ruthie's up side a tree trunk, hoping something FUBAR's the traitorous bitch and turn it in to the pissed off armorer for another one. Nobody got their asses in a sling because everyone knew guys got offed because their 16 couldn't do it's job.

Funny, when I was in BMT we still used m16's for our rifle qualifications (this was in '07). Those things were such shit-tier, mine jammed ejecting the casing every single shot. Was really fun being prone during a timed qualifier with a fucking mask on trying to wrench those fuckers out every 3 seconds. I wonder if I had one of their tree hammers.
