A tabloid rag that I won't quote says British estimates are that Russia has lost more troops in three months in UKR than it did in nine years in Afghanistan.

Confirm? Refute?

To put it in another perspective, Russia in three months has lost about half the troops the US lost in Vietnam 1955-1975 (58,261 per Wikipedia, note that the US involvement was pretty low keyed until the early 60's).

In an sad turn of events for the viewing public, Russia may be switching to T62s:

The T-62 is an upgrade on the T-55, which means it does not have the autoloader we all know makes tank videos 100% more exciting. So no more carousel of entertainment directly below the turret floor.

The T-62 stores its ammo in the crew compartment in the rear of the turret, and in its fuel tanks. Kind of like the Sherman wet storage system, but with fuel rather then the Sherman's fire extinguishing agent. So instead of the turret launch videos we are used to, we are going to be downgraded to fountains of flame.

At 25 mph and a bit under armored, it also seems likely we will see less media content over all, as the tank is not likely to live long enough for the drone to film it.

All in all, a sad turn of events for both the viewing public and Russian conscripts.

I’ll be happy with flame fountains too.

Not surprised by this. Wonder what they'll be down to in another couple months. Going to be pulling the T-34s off their plinths for the separatists.

More and more original BMP-1s showing up lately indicating just a massive vehicle shortage.

Scary thought when they are down to nothing except their nukes.

Breaking the Black Sea blockade would be good for the world.

Probably not doable with shore based weapons at this point. They'll just have to hang farther offshore. Does make it not realistic for the Russians to mount an amphibious op there or in Moldova and too risky to resupply the south in the Sea of Azov by ship.
