Captain batshit throws another bone to the Kremlin.

Russian state TV showcased a translated clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene—of all people—baselessly claiming that the U.S. is "supporting real Nazis in Ukraine." State TV previously bashed Greene for her lack of mental acuity, but at this point they're desperate for useful idiots.

Marge kinda has the common Russian demeanor in this pic.

She's a great example for limiting "free speech" :p

On an even tank vs tank basis I'd sure really rather be in an Abrams than a T-72 which launches it's turret skyward killing the entire crew if you even glance at it crosswise.
I think that the Abrams is the best protected tank in this regard, they use armored bustles separated from the crew with blowout panels for all the ammunition stored in the tank (turret and hull) unlike other tanks with only partial protection (only for the turret storage) or none at all.:

No flying turrets here.

All of these videos/screen shots of headless tanks....
It's like kids popping heads off dandelions. $175k for the launcher and first round on the house and $80 grand a piece after that. Technology is a hell of a drug.

Poland is purchasing 250 Abrams from the U.S.

Does this indicate Poland will be sending some of it’s T72s to Ukraine?

That's been the rumor. But, with Poland buying the latest upgraded Abrams tank (SEPv3), they are probably built to order. It would be a tough sell to ask Poland to fork over their T72s (T91 spec?). Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Poland is still looking at large Belarus armor formations that have been hovering near its border, and a full Russian division at Kaliningrad, and Russian propaganda about war starting with Poland, and has been very nervous - would be unlikely to give up its main upgraded tanks until it has substantial number of the Abrams in service (which will be at least months to perhaps a year or more). But they might be willing to part with a few dozen of their older T72 models.

The announcement said they will begin receiving tanks this year.

And, what a goof the whole bit with Kaliningrad was. Neither Poland nor Lithuania wanted to absorb the former Russian oblast. Nobody wanted o absorb that many Russians into their country - so now it's like having a giant Russian base next door. Oops.

Honestly if Belarus invaded Poland, I'd be fine with a full scale NATO deployment against Belarus. If Russia really wants to maintain their 'Belarus is independent' façade, they can't respond, and Lukashenko is overdue for a swift kick in the nuts.

It’s doubtful Russia would have allowed any self determination anyways.

I appreciate Poland's concern, but the baltics have more to worry about with Kaliningrad than they do. I'd have to think that they'd want a land connection in place before doing anything further west. Otherwise, Kaliningrad becomes a crater 48/72hrs after the first shots are fired. NATO wouldn't let the home of the baltic fleet live very long.

Then again, with the epic display of strategy they've put on in Ukraine ... eh, maybe they would try something there first.

Russia broadcasts its moving goalposts again:

In #Russia, the authorities are reportedly circulating a memo to all government-controlled or state-owned entities / firms, to explain the official position on the Russian #war on #Ukraine to workers / employees.

The “military operation” is a preventive measure in order to prevent the full-scale aggression against Russia that is being prepared by Ukraine.

There was a real threat that Ukraine would use missile, nuclear and biological weapons against Russia.

Our cause is right. Russia does not start, but ends the 8-year war. 4) Pollster VTsIOM data show the support of the absolute majority of Russians.

The “special operation” is going according to plan, from victory to victory. Only professional servicemen are involved (no conscripts), “polite people” fight.

An information war has been unleashed against Russia by the West and Ukraine.

Inside Russia, the bourgeois elite is in opposition to the war. Quote: "The Russian people consider them traitors and degenerates."

Western sanctions would have been introduced anyway. There will be no sovereign default. Departure of foreign firms is temporary.

Can Putin be kicked off the UN Security Council as some are pushing for?

The UN basically writes the rules for itself so yes, they can. But, it may just undermine the security council too much. If you can be kicked off then the west can just kick out the PRC too. If it’s just a western controlled club the UN might be rendered completely useless.

These atrocities will be remembered by the Ukrainians for generations. It's almost as if Russia is trying to bring about WW3. Genocide is a line the world should not allow to be crossed.
I'm still mindboggled by why the Russians did this and why they haven't left when they've seen the costs so far. There is zero chance they take Ukraine at this point and all they are doing is creating an enemy at the border that will forever have guns and missiles and terrorist activity pointed in their direction whilst destroying their economy for the next decade. Everything I see is their major trading partners scrambling to cut ties. Who would have thought that threatening your trading partners and causing refugee crises at their expense would make them not want to trade with you? Collosal missteps and I hope Russia as a country pays dearly for it.

We will of course buy or trade for their nukes should they go hungry.
