So is the U.S. still buying oil from Russia at this point? I sincerely hope not even if it does cost a little more at the pump.

A little more? In my area, gas is skyrocketing. It went up 0.10$ just yeersterday. The projection is $5 by summer.

Sales have stopped even though it isn't banned yet. Market has decided its too risky to by a lot of Russian output.

Government should issue a Jones Act waiver so that costal refineries in the NE without pipeline connections can tanker oil from the gulf export terminals on foreign flags.

The worst thing about high gas prices is it'll result in the Putin fluffers winning in November.

Well, Turkey is standing the fuck up... Common Europe...

I was thinking the same thing, and am extremely pleasantly surprised. In the last 10-15 years Turkey seemingly has gone from being one of the mainstays of NATO to become very close to Russia. Apparently Turkish leaders don't want a militarized Russian vassal state next door. I'm also wondering what sort of back door negotiations the Biden administration was involved in to get this done-it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out we were a major player in getting this deal done and so fast.

Drones may be the thing most needed now-they can attack the Russian "convoy" aka sitting duck traffic jam. If one gets shot down you still have the skilled operator who can immediately take control of it's replacement. A fighter jet gets shot down and you lose a very valuable pilot with multiple years and mucho bucks in training permanently lost.

I was thinking a bit about drones-the actual operators of these drones could be based just about anywhere, right? And what country probably has the most, and the most experienced drone operators? Kind of a reverse Vietnam situation, where many/most of the North Vietnamese jets and anti-aircraft defenses were operated by Russian "advisors."

Apparently two SU-24 and two SU-27 briefly entered (violated) Sweden's airspace today. They were responded to via JAS 39 Gripens and photographed. Just a very minor blip. The Swedish Armed Forces homepage has a news item in Swedish about it, calling the Russians "unprofessional".

Edit. Re diesel prices https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/diesel_prices/#hl201

With what companies, what equipment, and what personnel? So many companies went bankrupt when oil went into negative price per barrel in 2020, their employees left, and there is no new oil equipment available at any price.

Notice I said " reopening debate on increase drilling in the US "
The idea is to plant talking points.

Per something I saw or read on the news we buy some however that some is a very small percentage of all oil purchased, something like a few percent. I forgot the exact number.

The price of gas here was $3.50 when I filled up yesterday. Not thrilled about it but it is what it is. And sorry if a 1995 F-150 offends anyone but I only use it to haul off trash, get gardening or animal feed and building supplies. I only put 1K to 2K miles on it a year and it only has 93K on it. My daily drivers are a 16 Avalon or 01 Town Car. And the car line makes ANY vehicles' MPG suck and I have to go through 2 car lines a day. If there is a hell it's got a car line included in it.

About 7% of imports of crude and refined products. Mostly for hard to reach places from US supply like Hawaii or some of the NE refineries.

This is largely a byproduct of protectionist US shipping laws.
