Is that ammo in there?

Shoot it at some S-400 batteries.

This came up in my recommendations on YouTube yesterday. In my opinion he makes some good points, it's good to at least look at different sides of the issue.

Note its from 7 years ago.

What's chilling to me is when he talks about Putin and Russia going through a lot of pain to keep Ukraine from the west. I guess we will find out very soon.
I'm only about thirty minutes into it, but it's amazing how much has changed since then. The professor is well-informed and well-spoken and his argument is well-formed... But the past few days have been such a whiplash that you'd need to be a clairvoyant to predict.
  • Karkiv is listed as a city that would majority vote against joining NATO, and now it's in the middle of a Russian siege
  • Ukraine's resistance to anti-corruption efforts is mentioned, but since then Zelenskyy was elected on an anti-corruption platform
  • He specifically says something along the lines of 'if you want Russia to fail, tell them to try to form greater Russia, it will go terribly'
A lot of it is still very relevant of course (Putin effectively wants to wreck it before the EU/NATO can get it), but damn, Ukraine's future just got rewritten more than anyone could've guessed.

Aren't those rolling war crimes?
In theory, no. Thermobaric weapons aren't specifically banned by anything.

In practice, basically yes. They're short-ranged, have a fairly high dispersion, and their blast can easily go into buildings, so they're mostly used in cities, which means civilians have a lot less places to hide.

Can they just jump in the tank and operate this stuff?

Maybe? The driving controls are gonna be like any other tank based on that chassis, but the fire controls are probably more specialized.

The biggest problem is that it was probably abandoned since it got stuck in the mud, so they'd need to drag it out and keep it from getting stuck on its way to wherever they'd take it. It might be better to just yoink the missiles and save them for IEDs.

What I have been most surprised with is the complete lack of media / social media capturing the relief / resupply efforts. There are multiple military cargo planes that have been making trips to near Polish border, not seen even one photo leak of how or what they’re delivering - or presumable handoff to Ukraine drivers.

Even if hid/blurred the details, would have thought someone would insist on a PR shot. Or maybe I’m just overly optimistic that those are supplies for Ukraine.

Edit: heck, there’s 2 US C17’s in transit back from the Poland/Ukraine border back to Western Europe this minute, and a third arriving just now into Europe direct from the US. And a 4th RAF C17 heading in now to the border. And that’s just the highly visible US/UK movements.

Seems like the special FSB kill squad was ... well ... killed.

The Ukrainians are gobbling up Chechens like Xmas cookies, so much for that reputation. Looking forward to hearing the same news about the Wagner guys, may Utkin's battered and torn body be shown on TV so the mainstream media gets a shot of all his Nazi tats.

To be fair though, there is a group of Chechen volunteers fighting for Ukraine right now too. Very impressed by the volunteer spirit rippling around the world. The bravery of Ukrainian families has the world in awe, really puts the cowardice and deceit of Team Treason and Putin's fans in perspective. I hope it inspires rational Americans to show up at the polls like they did in 2020.

I'm heartened by stuff like this:
