Hard to see how US international influence comes back after this, at least anytime soon. We would likely need some sort of major internal upheaval to make other countries reconsider if they can trust us.
Probably need some serious structural changes internally before the world would trust us again, and it will never rise back up to where it was. Other people are tired of internal US politics being externalized onto the rest of the world.

Russia is putting out Pete Hegseth has stopped all activity by US Cyber Command against Russia. This is coming from Russian media so take it with a grain of salt for now. However not the first time Trump released news to the Russians before even our own media. Remember 1st term Oval Office visit by Russia.

No one living will ever trust the US again.

In fact, the Pentagon is now standing down all efforts against Russia.
US and Russia are Allied now.

Hegseth orders Cyber Command to stand down on Russia

Lincoln Project guy is hell of pissed off!

Can NATO kick the USA out? Best case scenario right now. Zelensky should say no dice unless Ukraine becomes NATO member. I can't see any other way this works out. Trump and Vance are utterly irredeemable.

Looks like Lindsey is over him now. Yeah he’s done.

BTW, it wouldn’t surprise me if the intent of this meeting was to ambush him in hopes he publicly humiliates himself and people from within Ukraine end up show him the door.

Oh, it was an ambush. To give Trump and Republicans cover to do what they were always intending to do: abandon Ukraine and the rest of Europe and proceed to emulate Russian “leadership” here in the US.

But do go on about Lindsey. He is held in great respect by … well … do go on.

How does NATO functionally work?

Can the EU basically co-opt or rapidly build up a side-rail system, only without US involvement so when NATO inevitably collapses they already have something up and running? Or is the whole thing so heavily dependent on US involvement that such a thing cannot be orchestrated?

I know everything will happen at the speed of government but EU is staring at an existential black hole right now, time for some daring maneuvers.

I'm curious when the US troop withdrawals from Europe begin...

Personally I think Trump ambushed zelensky; while he (trump) would love a political win he has no understanding or intention of halting russian aggression. I don't know if Trump will go so far as to sell weapons to Russia but it would not shock me if he will attempt to do so.

Ooooh there it is.. "We will talk about security guarantees later". So the current deal that was to be signed were just to fork over 500b in lithium to Elmo for nothing in return. It was a fucking shakedown.

This was an intestinal distraction from the budget they are trying to pass. Welcome to the United States of Ameligarchy.

Ha, well said NewYorkTime's Pitchbot:

"Volodymyr Zelensky's Oval Office visit ended early when Donald Trump and JD Vance began angrily yelling at him. Here's why women like Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton are too emotional to be president."

At least the Ukrainians know how to pick a leader, and keep him. I did enjoy seeing how the entire parliament told Putin and his lapdogs to eat a bag of democratic dicks the other day. Still, always funny to hear demands for democracy from an insurrectionist and a dictator, one who conducts elections at gunpoint. Get fucked assholes.
