If Putty has eyes on Ukraine you can bet he will invade. Maybe now, maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day or maybe he'll just wait for a President Trump.

Probably never. There isn't really much for him in the Ukraine except keeping NATO out. But he can do it by positioning troops close to the Ukraine and supporting separatist conflicts there. NATO needs a buffer zone just as much as Russia, because no one wants two nuclear powers next to each other in a hostile situation that could quickly escalate out of control. They were just hoping Russia would make its western regions the buffer zone, but now Russia made it pretty clear it's going to be the Ukraine.

Ukraine is the last remaining "buffer state" separating Russia from Nato countries. I can understand Putins strategic mindset in this regard, though cant justify any potential invasion of the country. I believe his posturing on the issue involves the felt need to wave a 'big penis' at the West in the same manner his forbears from the Soviet era would.

So when's "invasion?" Oh, right, not happening, just like I predicted. You guys with the Ukraine :tearsofjoy:
Like a cousin of mine says (she's in high school, ok? 😂): OK, boo.

When you think about it, with all this war talk, it just has to come down to WWIII. Just look how insane everything has become, what we have been through. We have Trump running amuck, insurrectionist, Marjorie Taylor Greene an actual member of the United States congress, pandemics, pandemic variants, more pandemic variants, face masks, shots in the arm, Fox News praising Vladimir Putin, Nazis marching in the streets, Q's fighting off the green space lizards, so what else could happen? We've about covered it all..... except for WWIII. That has to be next.

Yeah, one day soon we will wake up and turn on CNN and all the big breaking news will be about the great war just started between Russia and the United States. Bombs, bigger bombs, then the nukes, and more nukes. But on the plus side, finally the world can get back to normal. The world before Donald Trump. The world where we start over from scratch, and Jeff Bezos can reinvent the wheel.

You left out the part where the only surviving forms of life are roaches and bacteria.

Putin has proclaimed that the West has 'ignored Russia's key security concerns.' Blackmail, threats, extortion, a completely fabricated narrative revolving around security, somehow none of it moved NATO. Shocking.

Anyway I guess this is where all of that Russian hardware and manpower packs it all up and goes home, right? The Prigozhin employees would have us believe invasion isn't really an option and people are hysterical to act like it is. Putin's absurd attempt to turn back time isn't being acted upon, as per the man himself. So now what?

If there's not to be another invasion over Putin's objection to Ukrainian sovereignty, how exactly does he save face in de-escalation? Do tell.

It’s classic Russian gaslighting. Threaten Ukraine with invasion while saying anyone who thinks they could invade is nuts. Then make demands and promise vague ‘responses’ if they are not met.

It’s always been a big diplomatic advantage of theirs. They have no reputation to protect and little interest in the established order, so acting like a rogue agent doesn’t really hurt them that much.

You sound hysterical. And none of that can be true because Cheney and Bush lied about WMD, can't you see? Heh.

The nature of the true threat against Putin's mafia state means he can't ignore it, makes this whole thing a lot different than them just trying to bully Montenegro or talk the usual shit to NATO. I'm legitimately interested in hearing a Putin fan offer a theory on how Russia can walk away from this without invading. Since it's not going to happen and all.

The troops probably stay where they are for the foreseeable future. Maybe build permanent bases. It's just common sense for Russia. Why volunteer to make its own western regions a buffer zone for NATO? Move troops as far to the west of Russia as possible and let NATO decide how big of a buffer zone they are comfortable with on their side. NATO would like to be in the Ukraine, but doesn't want to be next to Russian troops, because of risk of a conflict between the two nuclear powers escalating out of control. So now it has to decide what to do, but for Russia, it's a no-brainer to move troops to the west.

It's really too late, but you should have stopped a long time ago while you thought you were ahead.

If you listened to that Putin speech, it sounded a hell of a lot like Donald Trump talk.
Putin actually used the same words, same expressions, same claims as Trump has used to defend Trump's own shenanigans. Either Donald Trump's speech writer wrote Putin's speech, or Donald Trump himself wrote Putin's speech. But whomever it was, it sure sounds like the same whinging we hear from Donald Trump.

That's water under the bridge. I am talking about the "invasion" that this latest hysteria is all about.
So you mean an expanded invasion from the current ongoing invasion?

Considering Russia is currently invading Ukraine it is rational to take threats of an expanded invasion seriously. Everyone here hopes Russia doesn’t engage in further aggression but as sane actors it makes sense to prepare for it, given Russia’s history of extreme aggression towards its neighbors. Agree?

LOL, I'm sure the nation of Ukraine considers those just water under the bridge. Can you be more dishonest?
I didn't say anything about the Ukraine. I am sure they got hurt feelings about losing Crimea and problems in Donbas. But those things are status quo since 2014.

My favorite part is he argues 'Russia is justified in its actions by the German invasion in 1941' and then when you mention the Russian invasion of 2014 he's like 'stop living in the past'.
