Weird marketing from the slides:

Admitting it is worse value than competitor. Unless you main only Battlefield V and Borderlands 3.

Just one slide afterwards, they compare it to GTX 1660 Ti(!), and it shows better performance, against it.

You know that AMD needed 7 years to catch up with nVidia in Tessellation workload?
Well, just remember that AMD also had tessellation first before nVidia, and DX11 - so it doesn't necessarily mean that the first to implement RT will have the best solution for it.

If you want to get technical, Caustic/Imagination PowerVR had hybrid RT first, they were just targetting mobile for some insane reason, I even remember Otoy gearing up to accelerate Octane Render with it.

Nvidia is running circles around AMD and as a company AMD can't continue to let that happen for too long or it risks fading into obscurity as so many companies before it have. AMD has just barely managed to save itself from bankruptcy (and absolute kudos to AMD for pulling it off). They may not be so lucky next time.
Just remember that AMD is not only competing against nVidia for GPU's, but also Intel - on CPU's and APU's, and that their GPU's are not only in PC's.

People like to fancifully talk about an AMD bankruptcy, but they were working off a long time debt for years, coupled with Bulldozer causing them to scale back everything but the absolute essentials for hardware R&D and minimal product execution, which is why the last truly complete GPU family released in a short time frame was the HD 7xxx series - they simply lacked the resources to do more while doing R&D on Zen, console SoC's and RDNA all at once.

It's a stupendous amount of engineering effort for a company with far less of a budget than either of their major competitors in the PC market.

RDNA would seem to have had a not so great focus outside of the custom console variants, certainly from an engineering perspective with Zen staff only pulled in to RTG efforts less than 2 years before Navi.

All round they have been spread very thin for years recovering from that debt and Bulldozer, I can only hope that the anaemic PC GPU focus was a calculated risk to assure that Zen was both as good a product as it could be, and that they had a concrete multi year roadmap to succeed it.

All we need now is for them to show that they can do the same with RDNA going forward - we can only hope that the base uArch foundations are strong enough to not require a completely new ground up design to fix anything missed during that period of anaemic engineering focus.

5600 XT is ridiculously low clocked for a 7nm desktop part so hopefully power efficiencies are good. That said with Xbox Series X having such a big die (& PS5 presumably not much smaller), I fail to see the appeal of buying any current DGPU at these sort of prices.

AMD's numbers put the 5600XT at around 1080 performance, or just under the 2060 (probably 2-3% under). Perf/watt will probably beat the 2060 if they're at ~5700 levels (According to AMD's numbers, it will). $280 is obviously very very high, especially for a second cut of a 251mm^2 die. Also, for the price, it's quite disappointing that these only have 6GB of memory.

Against the competition it's a clear win vs the 1660TI. The same price as a 1660TI but with the performance of a 2060. I'm not really sure why Nvidia didn't discontinue the 1660TI after the 1660S launch. It's a bit trickier vs the 1660S. 5600XT's performance is obviously higher, but it'll actually have a bit lower price/performance. If AMD priced the 5600XT at $250 or $260 they would've essentially dominated everything between the 1660S and 2060S. However, AMD is going for margins so that's we get, I guess.

All in all, a decent launch for AMD after the very weak 5500XT launch. $250 would've made this a great launch. AMD have positioned themselves quite well, vs the competition, with Navi 10. If someone is looking to actually upgrade (something like ~50% is probably a real upgrade, considering how slow things are these days) from something like a 1060 or Polaris level card, IMO, AMD have got the best options at $280-$400.

It's a clear win vs. the 1660Ti. The problem is the 1660 Super is ALSO a clear win vs. the 1660Ti. No one should buy the 1660Ti. I agree that at $250 it would be a fantastic buy. But maybe they can't possibly supply enough of them.

I suspect that a 5700 will be a linear performance uplift over the 5600XT so the 5600XT won't be a better value, it will just be cheaper.

The pricing is just more proof that this is the generation of the upsell. For just $50 more, get 10-20fps more. For a 192bit card with 6gb of ram. But yeah, it can like do 1440p at 60fps... maybe. For a year or so.

The high end 1660 Supers are hitting $250-260, likely due to the holidays supply/demand. Low end is $229. You can beat the 1660ti all you want, you're a year late, the same price and the 1660Super is $30-50 cheaper and only 5% slower than a Ti.

The cards sure make the new $350-400 mid range look good though, especially if you find a 5700 on sale.

Its closer to GTX 1070 Ti, than to RTX 2060. It still lags around 5-10% at stock speeds. AIB cards will mitigate this gap, with high OC's.

Asrock's leaked model has everything in its hands to be within 2-5% of RTX 2060. Which will make it the best value GPU, around.

Depending on the price, of course...

I think AMD wants to force consumers to buy more 5700.
Its same die in 5600xt and in 5700xt(5600xt have disabled few sp like 5700 and disabled memory bus so its cripled and slower than 5700.But Die cost them same as 5700xt).They just have mega huge margins on 5700xt because its overpriced. So yeah AMD want all of us buy 5700xt for 400-440usd.

Its the same die, because of the fact that die Yield on 7 nm TSMC's process is so good, so they cannot get any worse dies. Those are the ones which fail binning process, and cannot go to RX 5700.

5600XT should do well. It hits the weak spot in Nvidia's lineup between the $230 1660S and the $330 2060 nicely. Power usage is sensible and performance is fine.

Yeah 7nm is almost 3years old now.Fairy tales how yields are bad and how it cost so much are not true.Maybe 2 years ago yields was bad and cost was high, but not in 2020 for sure.7nm is old process today. It must be cheap and yields are super good.
If AMD can sell 5600XT for 280 they for sure can sell 5700xt for same money or 300usd.

Silicon Wafer costs went up 20% during 2H2019.

What will you say now?
