Also, Rosenstein's denials aren't really denials. He says he never authorized or pursued a wiretap, not that he never discussed it.

It's too bad really, since at worst this was a bad idea which never went anywhere. However, the NYT story, true or not, is going to provide cover for Trump if or when he decides to fire him.
