Some conflicting reports that he is not going to resign and will make the WH explicitly and publicly fire him.

Looks more like he'll make the WH officially fire him even if he tendered a verbal resignation. As reporters are noting makes a difference in that the Vacancies Act can't be used to bypass senate confirmation for his replacement.

Why anybody would believe Trump White House scuttlebutt is beyond my comprehension.

This is another horrific but amusing statement from the recent past.

“I’d like to make something crystal clear to the president. Mr. President, any attempt to remove Rod Rosenstein will create the exact same constitutional crisis as if you fired Special Counsel Mueller,” majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said earlier this year. “Don’t do it, do not go down this path. For the sake of our country, we plead with you. Don’t put this country through a constitutional crisis.”

In other news this is very crisisey from a crisis perspective.

Mueller goes and Trump is in until 2020

Maybe but not certain.

Nothing is certain but if Trump removes Rosenstein then one of his pets will move in. Either Mueller will be removed or he'll be restricted to the point he's ineffectual and powerless.

This potential outcome hasn't been a mystery to Mueller. Looks like we'll be finding out how many pits he dug for Trump and Co to fall into in case he's fired before being done.

Good news for America. Can't wait to watch the GOP Congress do nothing.

Information will be classified under a national security scam and Mueller won't violate that. It's not all craptastic in that the House is likely to be run by Dems and maybe maybe maybe the Senate. In that case they might bring him aboard in an equivalent position not answerable to Trump.

His Majesty must be confident that Kavanaugh will be confirmed. If that happens and the Trumpublicans hang onto the senate, he will have unlimited power.

There are chain of command issues here. I think Trump has to delegate the firing to Sessions as Nixon did with Richardson. I don't think he can leave Sessions out of it. Browbeating Rosenstein into resignation would circumvent that, obviously.

What can Congress do about a Deputy Attorney General and a President?

Conduct effective oversight of the executive branch for once? Haha.

It would be as easy as saying ‘if you fire the Deputy AG we will be forced to conclude that you are likely attempting to conceal criminal activity and will launch our own investigation, starting with your financial records.’

You know as well as I do that Trump is petrified of anyone examining his finances, for obvious reasons.

I think Congress could subpoena the information at the worst. There is no way what he knows don't come out somehow.
