I don't think that anyone is really arguing over who is MORE racist, just whether someone who has released a racist newsletter for years and then defended those racist newsletters and then later on made other racist states is a racist. I don't think that he's really being compared to anyone else.
Plus, if we care about civil liberties, then we should definitely not be for Ron Paul. He's more for state rights, which in most cases is a dog whistle for racists anyways.

That's part of his stated policy, he doesn't believe that a large portion of the Bill of Rights applies to the states. He thinks that it only applies to the federal government (e.g., Congress). You can just do a quick google search for "ron paul incorporation doctrine" or something similar and you'll receive a lot of hits.

I don't see how this is a racist comment. Race is not even mentioned in the excerpt. The only categorization is directed towards nation of origin. What is the TSA looking for? That is a good question.

What does 'don't look very American' even mean? Sounds pretty damn racist to me and definitely in line with a crazy person who publishes a bunch of racist newsletters.
What DOES 'don't look very American' mean? That is subjective to the viewer and reader.. and (usually) further defined by the editor and distributor. To define one man's ideology by one comment is ridiculous in my opinion. But if you have other examples I'd like to see them.
I'm not a huge RP supporter, but I think he speaks the truth more than the other candidates. And I'd like to see more "evidence" of his "racist" viewpoints because I just don't see it personally.
If his years of releasing racist newsletters, defending the racist newsletters, and then how he deems some Americans don't look American according to him, then there's nothing that will convince you that Ron Paul is a racist. Sometimes it's convenient for people who aren't in the demographic targeted by Paul's racism to be content with the despicable old man.
I am curious. In what circumstances would it be acceptable to call Americans who are working for the American federal government in America not American looking?

Well, to be honest with you, I am doing more research on these "racist newsletters". And when you say - "how he deems some Americans don't look American according to him, then there's nothing that will convince you that Ron Paul is a racist" - you have to understand that "American" is not a race, but a nationality that encompasses MANY races. And I believe that he is speaking from the point of view of a TSA agent and what they are trained to look for.
He said that the TSA agents don't look American. So I'm wondering in what circumstances that would be approprirate, where Americans working in American for the American government agency don't look American?
Also, I do know that American encompasses many races. However, apparently according to Ron Paul, it does not. That's the point. He thinks that a lot of Americans don't look like Americans, thus he believes that American is limited, probably only to Americans of european descent.
I cannot think of any context where Ron Paul's statement would be appropriate, but please let me know if you can figure anything out that would make the statement appropriate.
I'm just amazed at your defense of Ron Paul. What do you think he means when he says that a minority doesn't look like they're American? You think that means he likes turtles? It's obviously a very prejudicial statement, of the type commonly asserted against minority groups to try to de-Americanize them. You don't need to be a middle-class white Portestant male IT worker to be an American.

Yes! So let's define what an "American" looks like. Let's take a journey through another person's mind and imagine that *maybe* they might think differently than you and I (crazy, I know).. but, just maybe they might be using a definition of a *term* that is different than you and I.. and, just maybe, their definition might make more sense if we think more objectively and "out of the box".. i.e. how a TSA agents' look might define his nationalization - but that would need to be further defined by how the TSA defines the image of an "American".
