I don't think making all drugs legal will lessen their usage. It'll make it cheaper for the stoners, meth heads, crack heads, and Charlie Sheen though.

Id ban the promotion, marketing and legitimization of addictive substances. If people want it they have to go underground to get it. This keeps the stuff associated with scum instead of giving it the illusion of being acceptable and normal by selling it in stores and marketing it and taxing it.

I agree however people did rape and murder to control the illegal alcohol trade when it was banned at one point in this country and it was the event that lead to the rise of organize crime in the US from the likes of the Italian mob, etc.
 
Ron Paul was right and he's being proven right with the massive failure of the war on drugs. It's a shame not many people listened to him though.

You're going to be banning an awful lot of stuff, including a number of processed foods that are designed to be addictive to consumers.

So, good luck with that.

Not to mention that you seem to like the idea of maintaining an active criminal underground with its attendant violence, property and personal theft/damage, overcrowded prisons, and so on, and so on, and so on.

they are using classic shame ads to try to influence support for banning cigarettes

how does the government have a right to ban something on private property?

Umm... I'm for the legalization of marijuana, just smoke it in your own house or safe area; I'll assume that's the reason for the blather.

And yeah, not just a contact high, traces of THC can be detected on urine tests after inhaling second-hand marijuana smoke in enclosed spaces... just as second-hand cigarette smoke raises your chance of developing cancer.

Enjoy your freedoms, just don't infringe on mine.

Good luck with the war on drugs. Hows that working for you? and all the crime that goes with it that is worse than the drugs themselves?

Underground ,in the context of my proposed solution, is not a criminal underground since the drugs are not illegal anymore.

Sure add foods intentionally made addictive to the underground list. Im all for it. If people want to put poison in their bodies thats their body they can do it, it should not be illegal, but it should not have societies stamp of approval in and damn straight the government shouldnt have a financial interest in its successs by charging taxes on it.

Sounds like you want your addictions satisfied conveniently at the corner store, whose got skin in the game? The whole point is to make you travel and deal with scummy people to get your fix, this keeps societal dissaproval high and drug use associated with bad unhealthy places and people. Drug use will fall, alcohol tobacco use will decline. America will become healthier, less traffic accidents due to alcohol, lower health care costs, better more productive people after a generation or two of that.

We have to do something, addictive drugs are killiing our country and so is the war on drugs.
