Try harder next time and act like your not voting for the black candidate just because he is black, but for other reasons and then you will see some offers laid out to buy your vote. The fact that the Republican party spent over 40 years telling disadvantaged whites that they plight was due to "gifts" to black folks made it almost impossible toto build a constituency based on common economic interests. Actually it's been more than 40 years; read the accounts of union organizers in the auto and coal industries from the 50s, you'll see the same thing.

Race has been used as a proxy for class for so long in this country that a large segment of the electorate cannot distinguish the difference. 30+ years of trickle-down economics has resulted in the widest income disparity in over 100 years, stagnant real wages followed by an actual drop in wages, and a collapse of the middle class -- all of which are the black guy's fault. And how did he win? By saying that he thought it has gone on long enough -- Horrors!
