I am. Otherwise I would have said something.

understand it won't get you any brownie points with the boss or other people in the office.
Never said nor thought that it would.

what do you expect is going ot happen anyway? the boss will fire her? tell her to not do that on work time what?

No expectations, but if I knew she was leaving then I could immediately start looking for a replacement instead of being screw over by her just not showing up to work, because she is that kind of person.

Lol what a thread.

what does the OP hope to get out of this. this is not going toget them brownie points with managment or other people at the company. best situation is to ignore it and continue on.

OP sounds like that guy at work everyone hates cus he sucks up to the boss and tells the boss all the bad stuff everyone is doing.

That's EXACTLY what it sounds like. He's "that guy".

Her job hunting at work and possibly leaving without giving notice does, however, affect me because I have to deal with the mess.

No, you are MORE likely to be affected by this if you get involved.
A. She's leaving and you tell on her. She's pissed, she tells other people and they get pissed, you get shunned and your job is forever more difficult to do.
B. She's not leaving and you tell on her. She gets in trouble, explains, and then you get in trouble.
C. She's not leaving for months and you tell on her. She's now leaving sooner and you have more hassle immediately.
D. Regardless of what she's doing you tell on her and your bosses get pissed at you for stirring the pot and causing them extra hassle.

Where in this is a win win situation for you?

the best situation is wait for her 2 week notice. anything more is not going to help you.

i always laughe when people think telling on someone updating a resume is going to go over well for them. sure managment might be happy that you did..well for a short time. but word is going to spread. why piss off the other workes?

unless you are the owner then who gives a shit. hehe

why do I have to be the first person to post this.

Why did nobody quote the OP originally? This thread sounds like fun, I want to partake.
I need to be brought up to speed. Someone, halp.

I'm going to take a stab from what I've read.

OP, grow up.
So someone is working on their resume.. it's likely that they are capitalizing on down time while at work, and because of that, sounds like you can thoroughly expect a 2 weeks notice when she does eventually move on.
Guess what, people move on all the time. Most honest workers give notice, even the bad employee. I take it you are in charge of training new hires? First needs to secure another job. Might be awhile.

Wait for a notice. If there is notice, well shit happens and you'll tackle the problem when it hits you. There is nothing you can really do so just roll with the situation as it happens. Maybe develop a plan to figure out how you'll best manage the worst case scenario, that's as far as you can take it. And if you don't have a good plan like that already, that's the business's problem. Should be prepared for all situations. People just not showing up and walking away do happen. Most give good notice.

I already said I don't care what people do at work as long as it doesn't directly affect me. I see people looking at icanhascheezburger and peopleofwalmart all the time. I don't care, and hell I usually like to look at that stuff too and laugh with them. I don't say shit to my boss about it, and I doubt he'd care anyway.

Her job hunting at work and possibly leaving without giving notice does, however, affect me because I have to deal with the mess.

If she does not work for you or you are not in her direct line of reporting then it's none of your business. That's the point.

I think you've confused something that might affect you at some point, with actually being your business.

That's a very dangerous and selfish mentality, and would be absolutely wrong to interject yourself here (which I know you've decided not to...that's definitely good. :thumbsup🙂

A co-worker leaving doesn't affect your business? Who do you think will pick up the slack, put in extra hours, or take on her projects?

He has to hire/train/do her work if she leave.

Pretty much the definition of "my business" since it's affects his work right?

Did the OP go missing? HOW?

The OP was replaced by the the original poster by a disgusted rant that ATOT was nearly unanimous that he should mind his own business.

All people, always, have the option to leave where they work.
So this lady will either leave or stay; in either case there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Whether you will have more work training people or not is out of your hands.

hmm... well minding one's own business is typically sound advice, so gonna have to go with the crowd on this one.

This is pretty much exact to what I was going to write.

Oh, and everything else that has been said in this thread.

If anyone in the office quits it generally can affect everyone around them in one way or another.

Therefor imo a coworker has every right to accost and sexually harass another coworker at every opportunity should they even be seen with Southworth Connoisseur Collection, 100% cotton, watermarked, 32 lb. Elite Premium Paper on their desk.
