Don't be a douche. Keep it to yourself...you don't know her motives or why she was updating her resume. It's none of your business.

this.

its totally his business. this could directly affect his workload and office hours.

there's no action OP could take to negate the fact that if that woman leaves or is fired he will have to do the same thing regardless.

also, snitches get stitches

They could start bringing someone else up to speed on the job tasks in case the woman leaves.

This. The o/p sounds like the stereotypical overbearing tool that everyone hates to work with.

Mind you own damn business, she'll let you know 2 weeks in advance if she's leaving.

And "I'm gonna have more work if she leaves" argument is completely absurd. Her leaving or staying will in no way be affected by your nosiness and getting her fired certainly won't be helping you...

There was once a time where I would have been surprised at a response such as this.

Op is a tool. Can't stand coworkers like this. Are u her superior? If not stop acting like u are. Mind your own business @$$hat!

^^ OP sounds like his office's version of Dwight.

Oh man I wasn't going to bother replying since I already made up my mind, but so many of you are so fucking stupid.

I never had any malicious intent, just wanted to make things slightly easier for myself in case she decides to screw us over by leaving without giving notice. Put yourself in my place - would you rather go a few days or a few weeks doing extra work? FFS.

To all those saying they regularly update their resume, good for you! Do you do it on company time too? That's great, I don't care what you do at your job! You like to add your big projects as you complete them? Congrats! We don't have "big projects" and she's been doing the same stuff for the last 6 months.

And, finally, IT IS MY BUSINESS. How fucking hard is it for you morons to grasp that? I swear it's like some of you were dropped repeatedly on your heads as children.
*I* have to hire, *I* have to train, *I* have to do the extra work. How is that not my business?

What if she never switches to a new job and you train someone for no reason? Looks like you will end up doing extra work for that.

MYOB OP. Think of the golden rule. Treat others as you would like to be treated!

If I "caught" a coworker updating their resume on the job? I'd think to myself "There's someone comfortable with better themselves and their career,"

...not really. I wouldn't care and would continue to live my life.

Why the hell did you ask ATOT if you had such a strong opinion then? Either you wanted our input, which was overwhelmingly on the side of MYOB, and should at least be polite about rejecting it because YOU invited it, or you didn't want our input in which case why the hell did you start the thread? OT is the wrong place to come if you just want people to parrot your own opinion.

Actually my opinion was that I let it go or possibly ask her what is going on, not to rat her out. I said nothing to anyone about it. I know others would have immediately tattled. I wanted to see if anyone actually thought I should say something to mitigate the hassle of hiring and training someone new.

I tried being "polite" but atot is full of assholes and they brought me down to their level.

Lol what a thread.

what does the OP hope to get out of this. this is not going toget them brownie points with managment or other people at the company. best situation is to ignore it and continue on.

I already said I don't care what people do at work as long as it doesn't directly affect me. I see people looking at icanhascheezburger and peopleofwalmart all the time. I don't care, and hell I usually like to look at that stuff too and laugh with them. I don't say shit to my boss about it, and I doubt he'd care anyway.

Her job hunting at work and possibly leaving without giving notice does, however, affect me because I have to deal with the mess.

deal with it. understand it won't get you any brownie points with the boss or other people in the office.

what do you expect is going ot happen anyway? the boss will fire her? tell her to not do that on work time what?
