Rogue One trailer released

It’s said that the reshoots are being done to lighten Rogue One‘s tone (making it more in line with A New Hope), as well as to add in a cameo for the newly minted young Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich.

That is HORRIBLE fuckign news. "Lighten the tone"? Ughhhhhh. I wanted it to be dark, dirty and gritty. Frack.

Adding Solo in will probably be cheesy as hell. This is NOT the movie I wanted.

PS: I will still go see it on opening day.

I didn't like this news either...but will be going to it as well.

Since it leads up to within 10 minutes of ANH it is rather important to match the tone up IMO. I don't think a Han Solo cameo is necessary or even really desirable but we'll see how they handle it.

I don't understand the premise of introducing Han Solo into this story when he wasn't a part of the Star Wars story-verse until randomly happened-upon by Luke and Ben Kenobi in some distant shithole sandbox.

He seemed completely uninterested in any "imperial entanglements" ...but I imagine they are going to try and spin off some event related to this mission where he somehow becomes tangentially involved and the experience sends him the other direction.

Now, of course if this happens, it further dilutes the "Greedo shot first!" fiasco that doomed the-once perfect character. Han was a rogue that didn't give a shit about anyone until he returns at the end of ANH. Now, if he somehow becomes involved with the rebels prior to being a badass, he is just going to be more and more of a softy before we can ever accept that he was a badass.

disgraceful, imo.

Correct.

And even MORE of a reason I don't want a Han Solo anthology movie. They are NOT going to paint him in the badass, rogue (and yes) scoundrel light that we all envision him. His mystique is what makes him great.

While I am a HUGE Star Wars fan since the the original released, and will almost assuredly see each and every one of these movies at the 1st showing on opening day, I have a bad feeling about this...

He cared when he saved Chewbacca though. Chewie swore a life debt to him.

I want the han ' I shot first' solo!
not the Disney history re-creationists

Couple of details from recent interviews.

Forrest plays a character first seen in the clone wars anime.

Vader is in it with JEJ provided new dialogue, but it's said to be short and for a specific meaning.

They're contemplating changing or removing the opening scroll to differentiate it is an anthology movie.

I feel like they should have released Rogue One first as a teaser, and then the force awakens second.

OTOH, Han and Leia are getting old.

I think the biggest glaring omission in the prequels was no Han Solo. I have the feeling that a Han Solo standalone will be like XMen First Class, which IMO is the best XMen film.

More exposition tends to just ruin old stories.

It didn't look good in the original trailer, then they've had to reshoot a ton of the movie. Not good so far. I didn't think Force Awakens was awesome but at least in the trailer it looked great. I don't have high hopes for this.

Let me flex my furrowed brow and show off my intellectual superiority by stating I hate this film. I hated TFA as well.
The trailers don't look good therefore crap.

Furthermore, I'll just say I hate popular things. Those popular things I will attach demographics to, so I can rationalize my hatred for them as well.

Seriously, do people get a massive erection by stating they hate something? Just leave it alone.

No no no no. The best thing the prequels did was not ruin Han Solo.

I don't want a han solo movie. I want a movie told from the perspective of a Sith. Maybe Palpatine as he becomes dismayed by the corruption of the Republic and the ease with which it is to manipulate to the point appointing himself the position of fixer. Or maybe a Vader movie where rebels are portrayed as terrorists from Vader's authoritarian point of view with him fighting for peace as he sees it against insurgents that disrupt that peace. Cue 30 minutes of Vader just handing out rebel smackdown.

Can you imagine it?

Which is exactly why I don't know how people got a hard on with the trailer. It didn't look that good at all. Looked like a fan movie.

Yeah, this. Though I have sworn off all new Star Wars films after TFA anyway.

Personally, I think it looks awesome.
It looks dirtier, grittier and more "physical" than the other movies combined. That's exactly what I am hoping for... a war movie.

I've said it before and I will say it over and over a Solo movie (not to mention a Fett movie) will RUIN the characters. Nothing they do will be able to do their myth and legend justice so any attempt is going to fall horribly flat.

I'd be ALL FOR a "Sith angle" movie. Could be very interesting, and certainly would be a step out of the comfort zone for Disney and I still think it would rake in a bazillion dollars.

The more crap that gets slapped into Star Wars the less iconic the original movies will be until the original three are regarded as flukes.

I'd like a ShowTime or HBO weekly show about Obi wan watching over Luke as a baby. Tell the story of his split with Ben, make it a few seasons follow Luke as a baby, then preteen, teen and finally a year before the series begins. I always imagined Obi wan watching over & protecting Luke as he grew up but stayed unseen.
