I think it needs more love.and like all charity, it needs to begin at home with the self.There was a time I would have considered moving to California but now I'd pass on living in 90% of the state for those exact reasons .... and I say this as a Democrat.
The system is EXACTLY what we need to go after and it may be that "playing by the rules" will no longer be an option.
This country needs some serious freaking "adjustments".

Just imagine if those 59% that support choice actually turned out to vote? We would have enough of a majority in the house and senate to have an impeached Donald Trump, we would have BBB, and a simple vote in the house and senate would stop this attack on Roe vs Wade dead in its tracks. What this Trump court did or plans to do could have been stopped dead with one hand tied behind Schumer's back. Democrats could put a stop to this so fast... that it would barely make breaking news headlines. So fast... that Fox news wouldn't know what hit them. Yes, democrats and pro choice republicans could have what the majority of people want. Imagine an America where democrats are and have the final word. Just imagine...

The red state Aunt Lydia problem though? Yeah that's real. I don't get the shift to No Exceptions everywhere either, and to add criminal penalties a la Louisiana, just, holy shit. We have a serious cult problem I'm afraid. Hopefully this will produce the blowback it deserves. Voters here have a lot of GQP trash to dump.

In soon to be related news, republican states like iOwa and others are soon ending their states free-lunch and breakfast school programs for school children. The program was started during covid to provide free breakfast and lunch for every school kid.
This despicable action is definately related because... this is no time to be cutting off programs and services for children just as the Trump court will force women and especially poor women to have even more children. More children who will need breakfast and lunch during the school day.
You see, this is what really pisses me off to no end when these asshole religious fundie republicans who want to force more children into impoverished households, but then also insist that assistance for those impoverished children to be cut and or eliminated.
It might be all well and good to have fewer abortions in America, but if America is to do that then those children of impoverished single mothers must be fully taken care of. But you never hear those fake religious assholes insist the courts pass laws to feed children, or to house children, no.... you only see those religious assholes insisting women be forced to have even more babies, with insisting that those babies then starve.
You can not have it both ways you mother fuckers.

Maybe there is a long term goal here that nobody is thinking about:
If abortions become fully illegal, which means we will have an influx of children that can't be taken care of, specially with them reducing or eliminating social programs designed to help these children, their long term goal is to use that as leverage to do what China does and limit how many children a couple can have. What if they take it a step farther and make it only legal for married couples to have children? What if they take it a step farther and figure out a way to dictate which couples can have children, preventing minorities from having children? What if they take it even farther and find a way to dictate who can and can't have children, based on their "bible" of perfect genes. I know this is just hyperbowl and people think something like this would never happen... or would it, and could it be their long term goal? We have people in this thready mentioning that the GOP has cought the car... now what? Maybe they haven't caught the car everyone else thinks they are chasing... Just thought, something to think about.

And now Texas Governor Gregg Abbott is proposing to ban public education. This is ostensibly to prevent undocumented Mexicans from learning English, Science, Math and hoo boy, other languages.
I think Abbott's real goal is to deprive Brown and Black people and others he can't stand from going to school. I wonder how many who support the GOP will jump in their pickup trucks with torches and automatic rifles and head to the nearest integrated school building?
