It's possible that there's areas within large cities in the US where it's much like Nigeria but for the vast majority of the US it's no where close to being like Nigeria.

That I can agree with.. whole heartedly and I hope it stays not like Nigeria and more like the America which I love.

BTW it also extends in rural America since the attack in the OP happened in Grand Rapids.. I wouldn't classify that as a large city.

Yeah, thought crime is so much better.

So now you are comparing conservatives to boko haram.

You are an utterly fucked up person.

Coming from you, it's a badge of honor. Please give me more. I really want more.

Total pivot when you got caught by facts not favoring you. Nice deny and blame the other side when you're at fault for your ignorance.

If you had atleast presented a counter argument I would have been interested by your thought provoking intellectual synopsis but instead just like the conservaterrorists on AT quick to call names and insults with zero facts.

I didn't pivot, you had not been to Nigeria. What I also said was, "You have ZERO first hand knowledge of living in a 3rd world country?" See the question mark? You trying to say that Nigeria and Laos are the same now too? As I said, hardly.

I didn't call you a name, I said you are ignorant. That is not name calling. You did however call me a name, conservaterrorist, another made up word. Talk about hypocrisy. I did counter your argument, America is not comparable to Nigeria. Try using some facts to make your case, instead of dropping three links that are the same thing trying to make it look like three separate cases. More hypocrisy by you, saying I am not using facts when you do not.

Try looking at how many are dead/hurt from bombings in Nigeria, to America. Less than a month ago, there was ONE of many attacks this year that killed 32 and injured 80. The blast was an attempt to promote Islamic law in Nigeria. Over 20,000 people have been killed in the last 6 years with the Islamic uprising in Nigeria and bordering countries. Yeah, very comparable... not.

You said that the internet videos where people "who want equal protection against the law are getting kicked, spit, punched and pissed on" were an accurate portrayal of life in America. They are not, you are wrong. But you can't admit that. I can't go on and on about this with someone so blind. Your ignorance is really shocking, but after reading your posts for a bit not as much as it once was.

Really, it is for Michigan.

Grand Rapids is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan
In 2010, the Grand Rapids metropolitan area had a population of 1,005,648

But this is what you get when politicians use terrorist to spin their political agenda of hate and bigotry. America was once a great country where neighbor helped neighbor and live and let live. Now America is becoming a Third World Nation like Nigeria and this nativist sentiment violence is pretty much the exact same as Boko Haram.

When are we going to stop it?

America surely has a lot of problems and issues but it is becoming a Third World country? Are you serious?

Do you see million and million of people around the world try to get in (LEGAL and ILLEGAL) Nigeria? I do see a lot of folks are dying (literally and figuratively) to get in the US each single day of every year.

You said you spent some time in Laos? When was it? I was (recently as last year) in numerous countries in Asia, from developed ones such as Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Singapore to developing ones such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and then Australia. Overwhelmingly people over there have positive attitude to US/American people. I did spend more than a few years over there so I do know what I am talking about.

I am heading back over there within a few months, I will ask them folks over there if they could move to a country to visit or live, which one will they pick, Nigeria or US? Hummmm, I wonder which one.... :)

I've been to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines extensively backpacking before I was forced to find a job in Singapore after the 2008 financial crisis. When I had time, I went out. I based on my experience have surmised one thing.. they only want 1 thing from us.. our money. When the money stops.. no money no honey and no fun.

It used to be when overseas you really had to be vigilant but now it's more of the same inside the USA. I found that it's far safer overseas that unless I needed to, I absolutely did not advertise the fact I was American. A stolen American Passport is worth more to criminals so they can smuggle people overseas under visa waiver than a person's life.

Also since I didn't flash money around, I was more or less ignored by the gold diggers. I wish I could put a number on how many western men happen to "commit suicide by stabbing themselves or throw themselves out of high rise condos". Common sense suggests they shared the room with hookers/ friends who made them drunk and then relieved them of their belongings or if they were too much trouble, killed them.

Also then there are nationalistic nativist protests:

As the US Embassy put it:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/120914securitymessage.html

SECURITY MESSAGE FOR U.S. CITIZENS
Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Release of U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s report on the CIA’s Rendition, Detention and Interrogation Program

U.S. citizens in Thailand should be aware that release of declassified versions of the executive summary, findings, and conclusions of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s report of the CIA’s Rendition, Detention and Interrogation program could prompt anti-U.S. protests and violence against U.S. interests, including private U.S. citizens. U.S. citizens should pay attention to their surroundings and take appropriate safety precautions, including avoiding demonstrations or confrontational situations.

I don't know about you but they certainly don't look like treating Americans as Kings. That may be different inside bars with bargirls who want your money but the tune changes when you are low on money and then you find out how they really feel about you.

Thankfully I enjoyed South East Asia and had a very good time there. But I didn't see anyone in SEA get beaten up or shot in the face or run over by a truck because they looked like a certain religion. That does happen in Nigeria under Boko Haram's xenophobic vision and it's happening now in the USA with xenophobic Islamophobia.

So the comparison is there.. faint maybe but there.

Also the third world reference is there because the GOP candidates all say our living wage demands are too high. Infact our current wages are too high. I don't know about you but I want a higher minimum wage, not a 3rd world low minimum wage.
