Don't know why there's so much hate on Vista, I'd be using it now if I could (got a free copy through my university's MSDN AA program). The only problem is I have quite a bit of random hardware that isn't compatible with Vista, so I'm just sticking with XP. Most of Vista's "problems" are due to lack of hardware and software support, and that's the developers' fault, not Microsoft's.
Fails to address the bloat, draconian drm, vpn issues (which are still touchy even after the 'fix' issued by microsoft), invasive uac, validation headaches, etc, etc. I still haven't seen a complete and acceptable explanation for the 'phone homes' either.
It is the second worst OS ever released by MS (after ME), in terms of bugs, incompatibilities, and just basic design flaws. It's unfixable without a total redesign which can't happen, so the only reasonable option is to just treat it like ME...it doesn't exist.
