Is it wrong that the first thing when I saw the thread title was "Hoax"?

If not, that's too bad. Denis was definitely an intelligent, interesting fellow. Cheers, you crazy Canuck.

Yeah... and I was about to make a tasteless Nowheremom joke about it, too 🙂

RIP, dude.

I will remember Dennil always as a creative contributor, as others have said, a character. He will be missed, and never forgotten.

OMG that's terrible! My condolences go out to his family and friends. I just get the feeling that everyone here will live forever and am always shocked when someone passes. Do we know what happened?

BTW- His blog had some awesome photos of old ships:

Damn! I just saw this a moment ago. Hard to believe he's really dead. It's sad and a little scary at the same time for me in a "you really never can tell when your number is going to come up" kind of way.

I didn't know him from the Nowheremom days, but I remember when he spontaneously started posting here again a few years ago. It was somehow connected to Loki stealing a a mod account and unbanning him or something IIRC. He sure left his mark on the interwebs though. He will be missed.

RIP dennil.

Broke my heart reading that. I'm not sure what it is when we only know these people online but the few we've lost sure have hit home like they were close friends.

:rose;

lets be honest:

We "see" other forum members much more than we do a lot of the people we call friends. We "talk" to them a bout things that we would never talk to our friends about. There are people on here I have "known" for well over a decade. I can only name a few people in real life that I regularly talk to who I have known that long.

We really are a big ol' extended family here. We may not always get along, we may not always agree, but in the end we are here for each other. Maybe this will help bring some reality to this place. Our words on here affect real people in real ways.

Thanks for the memories Dennil. Keep shining buddy!

This should be a reminder that life is truly short.

We only have a short time to do our thing in this world. 🙁

😱

An oddball, a talent and a scoundrel all rolled into one. I've never quite known what to make of denilfloss, for all his shenanigans over the years, but he's a part of internet history and was most definitely an interesting guy to know.

May you know peace, Denis. I wish I knew more song lyrics to give you a proper send off quote.

Thats a far better summation than I was able to come up with. I really enjoyed his Battleship blog. Sad to see that he is no longer with us* 🙁

Who here remembers Green Acres?

That sitcom had me in stitches when I was young. 😀 And Eva Gabor was such a dish. 🙂

Aww, the good times with The Beverly Hillbillies, Pettycoat Junction, etc...

Well, I guess you finally got your chance to visit Green Acres before the rest of us. :'(

And may you rest in eternal peace there with the rest of the dearly departed cast who beat you to it. 🙁

Among other things, he was a trusted information resource for all things canuck.

Shine on you crazy diamond...

I was sooo pissed at him about his Nowheremom and daughter hoax. Me, my wife and daughter read the story as he presented it here with tears in our eyes.

It was a brilliant idea that went awry. I contacted him personally and we had a very good discussion. He apologized to me and my family for what he had done.

A smart, caring guy gone too soon.

RIP Dennis.

Here here! So very true.

I was extremely angry at Denis for the longest time for what I felt was his betrayal of our trust and his creepy, extended-troll dishonesty, as was the rest of the mod corps of that time, and for quite some time afterwards.

But . . . in recent years I came to see him as a gentle and highly erudite soul who might just have lived too much in his mind.

I am sad to see him pass. 🙁

Anyway, a radio interview with Denil.
