Hah! You clowns are even worse than the soccer moms in their SUVs! They're just happy to have a nice roomy, safe new vehicle to cruise around in. You guys think these poser-mobiles ar the sh|t. Hypocritical ricer worms is what you are! You're ricers an a more subtle level, but ricers just the same!

Edit: Honda Odyssey Minivan Weight: 4365 lbs.

Ford Explorer SUV Curb Weight, lbs. 4088

good job, choose a SUV with no interior cargo space to compare to a minivan, then neglect to mention you picked the sporttrac version. the real explorer checks in at 4434 pounds. so try again. let's not forget the odessey offers 65% more cargo space, gets 5 more miles to the gallon, and offers better rear seat comfort. also, consumer guide, who you used for your explorer link, reports the oddessy's weight as 4310. so now you're picking and choosing among the data to reflect your bias.
Oh STFU. One of you tards said the SUV was TWICE the size of your weenie-mobiles. He'd rather see the soccer moms driving the go-kart apparently. I have a feeling he wouldn't be squawking about it if she drove a minivan, though it's the same friggen weight! I was about to link to the Explorer SUV on Edmunds, but they didn't list it's weight!

no, but they did have it on consumer guide -- the same site you used for the sporttrac. and i didn't say anything about SUV's versus sedans. i know it must come as a shock, but i'm actually an indivdual handle on this site. i don't post under anyone else's name. so don't whine to me about what someone else said.

what i personally (as long as you can assume i think things, i'll assume you want to hear what i really think) dislike is people who use their cars to say "my penis is bigger than yours." and that goes for ricers, SUV's, etc.

i would rather see moms ferry their kids around in a minivan than an SUV. they'll be using less gas, and the minivan will handle better in an emergancy, making them less likely to hit me. if they do hit me, the lower nose and tail will help prevent me from sliding underneath the car. i'd also prefer that mom's kids don't die in a rollover.

yeah, it's usually a good idea to make sure you know what someone posted before you flame them.

MY reply was not to you, but you had to put your two cents in, didn't ya? I don't give a sh|t what you think. If somebody wants to drive an 8 ton SUV, that's their business. Same as the clowns that want to slap stickers and crap on their imports. No difference to me!

Edit: Sorry prodigy69, I just clicked the link... then I hurled! You owe ME an apology!

Edit: Seems like only posers have spoilers. True sports cars don't even seem to need 'em!

Whether the thing is installed by your neighbor's kid, or installed at the factory, it's still a "ricer" thing to do.

Damn I hate poser cars like this one.

i call RICE on that one! :D

Let's try to keep the flaming down, people. :p

Anyway I'm not dissing people who like to mod their cars and do work on their cars themselves, that's cool, it's always good to learn and be more aware of mechanics. What's annoying is little dipsh1ts that don't know jack about cars, but act like they do, and act as if them thinking they know so much about cars makes them super-cool.

I only put in my two cents about you putting in yours. The pot's calling the kettle black. And apparently you do give a sh|t what i think cause you're flaming like a nazi furnace. if it was no difference to you, you wouldn't be so negative about it. if it's none of your buisness, then keep your nose out. otherwise admit that you're making it your buisness, that you have an extreme prejudice, and that you want EVERYONE to know about it.

as for me, yeah, i'm prejudice against people who drive SUV's and don't need them. i'm also prejudice against ricers. but at least i admit it, i don't have skeletons hanging in my closet.

Yeah, but I didn't expect people to get off-hand so easily... oh well, lots of interesting perspectives here. Bandwidth well spent. :p

Nice car Mungla, I only don't like the mirror tint. I think the combination of a black car and black tint makes it look mean. :)

I also like the black on black tint. What made you decide to tint the rear window black and the sids a mirror tint?

The 20% (what I have) and 35% mirror would ghost really bad on a window as curved as that. Ghosting means that there would be little streaks running through it that are barely/somewhat noticeable. The mirror tint makes the car stand out (no doubt) but I think it looks awesome. The combination mirror sides and limo rear really turned out looking awesome IMO. The guys at Alta Mere did an outstanding job on the mirror, considering I've heard that it's hard for the installer to keep it from bubbling.

As far as why the auto.. I just didn't want to mess with it. The 4 speed sporty is fast enough for me.. With the sporty, I can take each gear up to the rev limiter.. So I'm only lacking behind a 5 speed as far as gear ratios go. I'll overcome that lack before long though with headers and a S-AFC.

Zcypher on some cars like the upcoming WRX STI the rear wing actually does serve a purpose. Grant on 95% of that cars out there they are tacky as hell.

Examples of cars that need them.
1.) Audi TT, granted it isn't that big but they put a small wing on it after a rash of high speed crashes on the Autobahn.
2.) The 911's famous whale tale.

Exactly. But unless you plan on doing a lot of extremely high speed driving (which you won't be if you live in Canada/U.S) then there's still no point in getting a spoiler. :)

From the top:
  1. Nobody will define rice. Very well. IMO, factory added stuff, like useless spoilers, is "Rice"
  2. Some say this stuff is added by the factory for aesthetics and that's OK, but apparently they don't think it's OK for others to add "stuff". IMO, that's hypocritical.
  3. Some say factory spoilers are there for good reason. Fact is, they rarely, if ever, are "needed" for anything other than aesthetics.
  4. I added that apparently it's OK to use a pseudo "sports car" for daily commuting, but driving an SUV, which will never go off road, is frowned upon. Again, pure hypocrisy!
  5. It is then pointed out that "...you can't really compare getting a spoiler to getting a behemoth that's twice the size of a normal car." My reply to that is you wouldn't bitch if the soccer mom drove a minivan instead, though it's exactly the same weight as an SUV!
  6. It is later brought up that a minivan is more efficient. My point is that the soccer mom wants something more aesthetically pleasing than a minivan, as does the pseudo sports car owner with his spoiler. IMO, the only difference is she pays more for the privilege.
  7. Went off on a tangent about SUVs being more dangerous to the import boyz, but that's another topic, and besides, nothing's stopping them from buying a larger, safer vehicle.
  8. A few points mixed in about some non functional "rice" add-ons by American manufacturers. Yep it's true, rice is rice, factory installed or not, and nobody appreciates a REAL sports car any more than I do!
There! No flaming, just my opinion with some facts thrown in for good measure! Did I miss anything?

My comment on rice: So a F1 car should also have no wing, cuz it's considered rice?

wings == rice IF it doesn't help the car in handling

some cars need wings, but those are rare.

Edmunds Ferrari 360 Modena specs

more specs

0-60 in 4.5 seconds, top speed of 180mph (nearly 300kph?)

If that car doesn't need a spoiler, no car you're gonna drive needs a spoiler. Therefore there's no excuse for having one. :p

But, there are few exceptions that are OK with spoilers, like the Huyundai Tiburon. But then it's a matter of opinion. :)

I was skimming this thread and saw that Skyline stuff.. Skylines are fugly!! The wing is fugly, the headlights are fugly, the boxy styling is fugly...
It was ahead of its time. Now all Nissans are fugly.

Wing... I would NOT want a wing on the trunk of my car at any speed. More force behind the rear wheels = less force on the front wheels. The last thing I need is my front wheels lifting at 100mph on 290.

Then again, the Skyline is a brick so there is probably no lift anyway.
