OK, maybe I am the only white guy here who knows something about rice (I had 3 asian roomates in college, all chinese, one from Hawaii). There is a huge difference between those cheap-a** $20 rice cookers (which will leave your rice soupy or overcook it and burn it) and one of the higher end models.
Zojirushi is widely regarded as one of the best rice cooker brands on the market, anywhere, at any price. It makes perfect rice, even the sticky glucose coated rice like Nishiki. It also keeps the rice steamy and moist for up to 24 hrs.
It is in-correct that you can't have a steam vent on a good rice cooker... the Zojirushi does... also, to those who think that 5 cups is not a lot... that's 5 cups UN-COOKED... go ahead and cook 5 cups of rice and see if you and your entire family can eat it in a single sitting.
couple more quick things...
you can buy Nishiki in the oriental foods section of most grocery stores, at least those in the western part of the US (King Soopers and Safeway out here in Colorado carry it in 1, 5 and 10 lb bags).
those of you who pop instant rice in the microwave or that god-awful bag and boil rice, you don't know what the heck you are missing.
