Rice Cooker 99.99 Free Shipping

blah, these are no good. the ones at the asian markets are good.. out 10cup one was $135 or so.. granted, it was way too big.. so we got a 5cup instead.. keeps rice nice for a few days 😛

<< Artic Cold, I bought this same rice cooker around Xmas at Costco for $39. >>

I highly doubt it.. You positive it's a Zojirushi brand cooker? Zojirushi is the Cadillac of rice cookers, and I don't think Costco would be selling them for 80% off list.

Good lord! What differentiates a rice cooker? The one I bought at CostCo for $29 cooks rice. It does some other things but all I need it for is to COOK RICE! Why spend $100 on an appliance that COOKS RICE when you can get the same thing for $30! This is only a hot deal because it is $60 off list, but still... Save some $$ and get something else you want with the difference. Just my 2 cents...

the asian markets sell rice cookers much better in quality. and as far as cooking rice, it does make a difference. When rice is your main staple and you eat it every day a rice cooker is a necessity.

me too. i second that. rice cookers are worth the bucks. but 99.99 is a bit much for a student's budget... better ask my mom for some extra funding.

Try out the "Black & Decker Flavor Scenter Steamer Deluxe HS900". Use Dealtime. It does more than rice.

There is flower option pattern, which for this rice cooker. This cooker is No. 1 so now. And it cook for rice, which each time perfect! Yes it so best.

My best bad translation. 😀 Anyway, fuzzy logic rice cookers rock! I still use my cheapo Aroma cooker, which does white rice fine, but always botches other types. I don't think this Zojirushi is the fuzzy-logic type, though.

And the obligatory: "Thanks, JokerSmoker!" 😀

Any Asian will recognize the importance of a good rice cooker. If you're a casual rice eater (read: you don't eat rice with every meal) or you tend to cook the crappy medium/long grain American rice you probably won't notice a difference, and can keep your lame $29 rice cookers. 🙂

20 posts of this is no good, I use this, etc. but zero details on what makes a good rice cooker. We still have the $20 Panasonic we bought 20 years ago when we got married, and lately most of the time use a $10 microwave cooker.

I have looked at some more expensive cookers with stainless steel, or teflon coatings to make clean up easier (the 20 year old aluminum is pitted and takes a scrubbing to clean). So what makes a cooker better?

Is this more an issue of a rice "keeper" than cooker?

I got a 10 cuper at price club a few years ago for 30 or so and man does that thing blow. I mean the rice never, ever tastes good. It keeps for maybe 20 minutes before it goes bad. The thing really, really sucks. Can anyone recomend a good rice cooker that is cheaper than this one?

I dont get it... I cook my rice in a pan and it tastes fine. Why do I need a special appliance to to make rice?? Am I just cooked or is this rice cooker concept fried??😕

ok this is what my dad told me that is important in a rice cooker. he works at a tatung , they manufacturer rice cookers and HP's pavilion line of computers and sun workstations and various monitors. I still dont understand how rice cookers go with the rest of their products. Anyawys... the idea is ... he says is the steaming ability. If you have a metal ricecooker, and the lid is designed to expand outward as more steam is generated then it will seal the edge of the lid instead of releasing more steam. This will force the pressure of the steam to go more into the rice and force more water into the rice, thus cooking it better. Also it is good if there is an internal like rice pot inside, that is held inside the metal cylinder. that way you can pour extra water outside the main rice holder metal pot, in the cavity between the heating element and the rice . this extra water will also be steamed into the rice. we had a 20 cup rice cooker at one point that he brought in from work, we never used it though. Jack in the box used to buy their rice cookers for the terriyaki bowls there, so well that was the type jack in the box used.

Anyways, most el cheapo american rice cookers do not make a nice seal on top . The really cheap ones even have a steam release on top, because they can not seal effectively. probably would just bust the lid on top if there was no seal on top. Anyways, the REALLY REALLY cheap ones, have glass lids. glass obviously cannot take the pressure of a lot of steam, it will just crack. A good rice cooker uses a heavy metal usually stainless steel lid, or one that locks so that the top will not lift and will keep the steam in. Basically a rice cooker is a pressure cooker so well a glass pressure cooker really doesnt work. neither does a plastic one, well not as well.

Zojirushi is the best brand of rice cooker around. Probably worth the $99, but I wouldn't know (I brought an old one from home to college).
