Review my Website?

Well, since it's already been done many times before for others; I figure I can get a chance to improve my website aswell.

Project Breakdown

The site validates in XHTML Strict and CSS, with the exception of the Google AdSense for search, since they refuse to let me modify their code.

What do you guys like/dislike about it? What modifications would you suggest. Any features you'd like to see?

I've noticed some are asking for a simple page that will tell you of the status of Gmail. I plan on implementing that for you, once I figure out how to do it. It should be up sometime soon.

Looks like a template you can buy for $10

The green doesn't mesh with the blue. That's about it, thoroughly boring and not unique at all

Just a suggestion...you shouldn't have "Recommended sites" on the same page as the news page. Have it in a separate link at the top labeled "Links"

Was trying to fill some space. But I'll give that a shot; thanks. 🙂

... tough crowd

I think it looks really good.

Dotted underlines = ugly
Make the rollover blue a grey or some other neutral color
Ad by google = ugly
Header = ugly and so is the header's font

Don't look at my personal web to judge from my experiences with websites, i made it in less than 3 hours (coding included). I'm working on a much better one.

You don't need a Google search on your site. People already have their ways to search. If it just searched your site that would be acceptable.

The design is pretty clean. I like the gradients. It does seem a little bland though. Also, it's very small on my screen (1600x1200).

Just tried this in IE, does it look fubar to anyone? The height of the content pages are consistent

Will remove the Search field, then. If no one will use it; it's just ugly. Thanks. 🙂

The Recommended Links section looks a bit plain. Maybe you should add like a screen cap of the site? Or add some effects?

Great idea. I was aiming for simplicity for quicker load times, but if some images would make it look better; it shall be done!

It is plain, but sometimes I prefer that for a site. Not bad though.

Maybe a picture could spruce it up, but for a site like that you don't want to overdo it.

The actual layout is good, but could be spruced up a bit.

The colors, oh god, the colors are terrible though. Monochrome banners with neon green? WTF were you thinking?

Again, I'm colour blind. I look at the hex values and hope they're good. If someone could give me values that they think would work well together, I'd gladly try them out.

Use Photoshop to determine what colors your site would use. That's what I did.

But I know know what matches or looks good together. Personally, I thought this was fine, but obviously I'm wrong. 😉

It's a slight modification of an OSWD template, no?

No, unless someone stole it. 🙁

I'll look around.

unless you happen to work for http://www.growldesign.co.uk/ then I would say you are full of crap.

http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/2527 or http://www.growldesign.co.uk/portfolio/00013/

I mean dude, if you're going to use someone else's template, then by all means do so, but give some credit where credit is due.
