On the BIOS lock screen, there is a "-" followed by a 4 digit code at the end of the service tag (see post#49 for an example). What is the 4 digit code?

Hello, I would be forever grateful if someone could help me crack bios password on a Dell D510 I purchased on Fleabay. Message I get is
"This computer system, #F2KQY71-595B is protected by password authentication system".
I can't boot from a cd or hard drive.
Any & all help is much appreciated. Thank you.

How sure are we that these bios password recovery requests are not for stolen laptops?

This! And the fix is easy. Contact Dell, and if you have the bonafides of legitimate ownership, they will provide a solution.

Actually, from my experience, if it is not in warranty they won't without charging a significant amount of money for it.
