The rich should be punished for their success at any cost, even if that means raising taxes on the middle class and sending the unemployed to the welfare lines. We aim for mediocrity. Success is evil and unacceptable.

Yes. How else can we flame the fires of the class struggle between Bourgeois and Proleratian?

Point well taken.

That makes me wonder if the many middle class/poor independents who voted repub this past election cycle actually understood that voting the repubs back in brings back and extends the Bush era ideology that was in many ways responsible for wrecking the economy that they're mad and frustrated about now.
Red states continue to vote R in hopes that maybe trickle down economics will tricke down to them. In the meantime, they continue to steal from the blue states.

im a wondering, for those of your bitching about this, how much did you pay last year for federal taxes?

ill be the first, i pay zero.

Obama is bringing out the big guns:

Bill Clinton implores Democrats to back tax deal
WASHINGTON – Bill Clinton implored Democrats to back the tax-cut deal that President Barack Obama negotiated with Republicans as the former president made a surprise appearance at Obama's side in the White House briefing room Friday.

"I don't believe there is a better deal out there," Clinton told reporters who'd been summoned at a moment's notice to see the former chief executive back the current one. Clinton and Obama had just finished a private meeting in the Oval Office.

It's funny to see Obama fight for extending tax cuts harder than GWB himself fought for the original ones. 😛

Actually what is funnier and more ironic is how liberal dems are willing turn on Obama so quickly along with how they refuse to agree on a comprise reached by Obama with the Republicans in DC on the issue. Yet then when you talk to a liberal in passing they still pull the "Republicans are obstructionist" bullshit line against Republicans on other issues.

Republicans are holding the economy hostage to tax cuts for the rich, and Obama is meeting their demands. It's a fool's move, because they'll kill the hostage anyway, if they can. It's the America they've fought to achieve for the last 30 years- the world's biggest banana republic. Allowing the rich more money is like giving guns to terrorists.

If BlackBush approves this it will be permanent in 2012 as Obama will never raise taxes during election and you can bet everything you own Republicans will make it an election issue. He needs to draw line on sand now.

Oh really? You paid no SS or medi? Never filled up your gas tank? Don't own a cell phone? Never bought a bottle of booze or cigarettes?

I bet even if you're a pan handler you paid 10% federal tax and 20% between state and federal.

He'll get technical on you and say he was talking about Federal income taxes. They always do.

That is not taxes going back into the system. Until the economic activity creates a higher return on taxes that what was sent out; it is still a loss.

It is tax money that has to be balanced not economic activity; Apples and oranges.

Otherwise if that is the case; why should anyone work. Easier to dig the economy out of the doldrums if no one worked - all that extra unemployment money can be handed out. Where does the $$ come from to pay the unemployment checks?

BUT - if a person works and get a higher wage than unemployment the economic factoring would still hold. And the governmental would not be spending the money.

Typical people twisting numbers to justify their handouts

Classic denial on your part- you act as if unemployment isn't 9% and participation in the workforce astoundingly low, as if there are enough empty jobs to accommodate all the people currently unemployed.

You also seem to believe in the tired lies of trickledown economics, too, when current low taxes at the top just gives 'em more money to offshore faster and to invest in greater automation at home. Wash, rinse, repeat, with suitable moral outrage doled out to the faithful.

Growth you say? Here's the reality of what passes for growth, and it ain't pretty-
