They pointed to HHS regulations issued in 2010 that even relatively minor changes in individual policies would force their cancellation when the law went into effect this fall.

what i find disgusting is that if the insurance companies knew the new law had planned on dropping polices MONTHS ago. they just didnt decide on one morning in OCt to cancel polices. just think how many people at the insurance comanies worked on this, to review policies and start sending out drop letters. Its amazing that nobody reported on this before the ACA took effect, people knew, no doupt about that.

so somebody has been reading the thousands of pages of the ACA, everybody but the Obama admin.

Six people? I am speechless....

Look, 65% of Americans don't want this shit and the other 35% are too stupid to figure out how to sign up. It will take a door to door campaign, where special ed style teachers ask the questions and fill out the paperwork. Parts of America want free shit, but you think they're gonna take the initiative to go get it? The only thing that will get these people off their asses is a check or an EBT card. Obama assumed too much when he built a website to enroll the lower eschelon of society. The more I think about it, I think I'd take the fine, rather than support this faction of society. If I am getting ready to die, I'll go to the hospital, then file for bankruptcy. I'll be driving a new car in one year because that's how it works. In America you can drive to bankruptcy court in a caddy.

Ok, part of my post was sarcasm......some of it isn't. :)

From 2010:
http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatc...s-do-over-on-healthcare-grandfathering-clause

The Department of Health and Human Services released preliminary regulations in June. They state that plans would lose their grandfathered status if coinsurance and copayments increase more than a specified amount, for example.

According to HHS estimates:

_ 40 percent to 67 percent of individual policies will lose grandfathered status by 2011;

_ 34 percent to 64 percent of large employer group plans (100 or more employees) will lose their grandfathered status by 2013: and

_ 49 percent to 80 percent of small employer group plans (three to 99 employees) will lose their grandfathered status by 2013.

I blame the insurance companies but I'm sure you wont and you will stick to your anti Obama crap.

of course you blame the insurance companies. Your nothing but an Obama mouth piece.

In the real world, the reason insurance companies are dropping people, is simple: Obama changed the rules.

You didn't read either of the links did you?

I don't know if it sucks being stupid or if it's total bliss, you tell me how you feel.

wow there is alot of republican anger in these threads lately.

Yep, bunch of crybabies, going on about expecting an expensive website to work and complaining about being lied to en masse. What nerve they have. And now some of them have the gall to bitch and moan about steep increases to their health premiums. I really don't know why they are so negative.

I don't either it's not like the republicans are pushing for a better solution or for any solution for that matter!

Bitches going to bitch, I guess!

although Obamacare has so far been poorly executed, it is true that Republicans have floundered ineptly as well, not offering any better comprehensive ideas other than maybe a glib "Work for a better company"

I did. And I'm amazed how stupid you are.

Because of Obamacare people are losing their insurance.

All you are doing is spinning

So we have a website that doesn't work. For those few people who did get it to work their rates were higher. We have millions kicked off their current insurance that now have to purchase more expensive insurance. When this whole thing started it was about those without insurance, now it's about this with substandard insurance. It was supposed to help the all uninsured but estimates say it will still leave 30 million uninsured.

Sometimes doing nothing is the better plan when efforts to make things better seem to actually be making things worse.

Don't forget the 1600 new IRS IRS agents and all the administrative/clerical people that are now leeching off of the taxpayers.

Republicans have offered several healthcare reform bills over the last few years...all of which were "obstructed" by Senate leadership. Liars are going to lie, I guess.

GOP had Congress and White House for 6 years and did nothing on health care aside from expanding Medicare without bothering to pay for it.

Maybe because their agenda didn't synch with yours? You want, want, want. You've got control over two thirds of the government now and you're still not happy. It's totally unrealistic for you to expect a political party that is opposed to what you want to legislate what you want. But yet here you are bitching about it.

They expanded Medicare, so I am not completely opposed :)
I just wish they paid for it or at least given it power to negotiate prescription drug prices it was obligated to pay for.

Medicare Part D costs came in at roughly half of what the CBO estimated in 2003.

However, if you're looking to be outraged about something perhaps you should direct a good portion of it towards those who overwhelmingly voted for 2 wars without bothering to pay for them...these wars cost a hell of a lot more than Medicare Part D which, despite your bitching, just so happens to actually help people instead of wounding/killing them.

I am all for expanding single payer programs like Medicare and Medicaid. My preference is that they be paid for and allowed to negotiate lower drug prices using their purchasing power.

I doubt that will happen while Obama is in the WH. Hell, he was even caught red-handed negotiating a backroom deal with Big Pharma that would prevent us from leveraging our purchasing power.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/13/internal-memo-confirms-bi_n_258285.html

Looks like he got some goodies in exchange, unlike Bush who just wrote big pharma a blank check.
1. Agree to increase of Medicaid rebate from 15.1 - 23.1% ($34 billion)

2. Agree to get FOBs done (but no agreement on details -- express disagreement on data exclusivity which both sides say does not affect the score of the legislation.) ($9 billion)

3. Sell drugs to patients in the donut hole at 50% discount ($25 billion)
This totals $68 billion

4. Companies will be assessed a tax or fee that will score at $12 billion. There was no agreement as to how or on what this tax/fee will be based.

Total: $80 billion
