Obama has already agreed with the republicans on the contraception issue. So it clearly helps to have dialog and air your disagreements and has had an effect.
Dissent helped the Democrats through the Bush years why cant it help the Republicans? Especially since they are basing some of it on traditional party values.

Sigh...this shouldn't have anything to do with payback. It should have everything to do with what is best for our country. Of course, you have already announced that you hope America suffers a lot because we "deserve it" so it isn't like your opinion matters on much.

I don't believe in the fraud called "hope." I believe in consequences.
No, less power to them, I'm certain. However, there's some things going on behind the scenes we're not particularly hearing about.Originally posted by: frostedflakes
It's going to take some serious obstructionism to do anything considering the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. Seems kind of futile, but whatever. If people want to whine and stamp their feet like little kids who didn't get their way, more power to them I guess.
What happened to the traditional 100 days presidential honeymoon? Suddenly today I see that the R's are circling the wagons and refusing to cooperate with the D's. This may backfire. I'm wondering if the R's are going to go extinct. Is it possible a different party will emerge? I suppose not. Argh. One can hope.Originally posted by: Xavier434
Like Obama or hate him, this is not the way to help the Republican party recover. It will most likely backfire. At best, it will have little to no effect at all.

What are those values again? I ask that in seriousness.

Prop 8 was a very well-funded disinformation campaign, the signs and ads were at the least very misleading.
Little did awake Californians realize how much money and effort was put into the hate until after, which is why it will not last.
The Black vote sunk Prop 8 opposition. Irony at its finest.
