History has shown how stupid Americans are. They’ll forget come voting time

Possible. At least it has been that during "normal" times. I expect that what is coming as a result of some of the executive's actions (tariffs, cuts, etc) is going to bring about some fairly "abnormal" times that are going to be fairly brutal for a good chunk of the GQP's base that isn't the top 1%.

I can't say that I won't enjoy it either.

If 2024 proved anything I think it is that Americans hate rising prices for any reason even if their incomes are rising faster. Genius orange man is doing his best to both raise prices and slash incomes and something tells me he's not gonna stop just because there is an election coming up.

While true, a large portion of those that forgot never even really acted like things were different. And for the small % that changed teams, it was already over for them anyway.

I think the economic impact in the next year will be far more difficult (deaths aside) that COVID was for those groups.

They keep proclaiming homosexuality is a sin. But yet they clearly enjoy taking it up the butt. They won’t change. It’s the 7 million that decided not to vote in 2024 are the ones that matter

The blame list could be never ending. Add in the Dearborn, MI voters that either didn't vote or switched sides because of Gaza. I hope they're happy now with how Trump has made that situation better.

My point is, there are so many things being gutted/destroyed right now that the impact simply won't be able to be ignored.

Nobody has made this happen more than the herculean effort that John Roberts has put in to help Trump simply ignore the law.
There was something on Reuters about the Supreme Court hearing 23 cases on the "emergency" docket and siding with Trump partially or fully 21 times with one being moot since Jan. 20.

Plus the ballot and immunity decisions. He really pulled out all the stops to make him President again.

No, I read it right. That's saying that only 67% of those identifying as Rs blame the Ds in congress. That number should be way higher for them to have any kind of good feeling.

- Yeah for 1/3 of Pubs to not immediately blame Dems when its easily 4/5 *at least* in any other circumstance is actually a massive swing away from the norm for Pubs.

As someone who doesn’t know everything about everything, what is preventing the republicans from doing budget reconciliation and only needing 51 votes?

Limited number of reconciliation bills per session.

But nothing is stopping them now from changing the filibuster rule. Rule changes need only a simple majority. Then they could pass whatever budget they want.

Republicans really shot themselves in the foot with impoundment and rescission. Why should Democrats sign onto a deal that could see appropriated funds impounded followed by a rescission vote that requires only a simple majority? And you have people like Vought constantly bragging about being the King Appropriator.

Thanks. How many times can they do it per session? This is an area i honestly don’t know a ton about.

From a bit of reading they did it on the big ugly bill.
