Anyone who is trying to run cover for the Republicans on this is either dangerously stupid or cravenly dishonest. This is a bad thing and we all know it. Some people like DSF may lack the principles and ethical backbone to stand up for what's right but I would hope at least a few of the conservative members here would be better people.

The ringing silence answer enough? Party before Country.

Has Nunes announced his retirement yet? Serious question. Even in his conservative side of Fresno, I'd imagine they'd find someone to run against him with just a wee chance of winning.

Why not pull the DOJ and FBI in to get to the bottom of any suspected wrongdoings before tossing out a partisan opinion peice from either side out to the public? Is Wray now part of the deep state hell bent on bringing Trump down? What the hell is going on...

The willful destruction of the DOJ/FBI's relative political independence is what's going on. By Republicans.

Just a random thought/question, but why can't DoJ just be a separate branch of government (under SCOTUS?) It seems to me they have no authority to enforce the laws of our country when investigating the Executive Branch.

Our system has a flaw in that Congress is required to act in order to rein in the activities of a criminal president. Instead, Congress has been actively enabling him because they think conservative policies are more important than the rule of law. Party over country.

I like it. A bit of ELO in Window.

Edit: how did this end up here? I was over on ATOT when I posted it and since I never make mistakes, weird.

To think the Right nutters ate up the "release the memo" shit and now they're going to be throwing it up. Nunes really fucked himself and I can't imagine it will have been worth it when it's all done.

A fair number of the Faithful have already fallen for the FUD. Can't trust the FBI because.... something, something, something. It threatens their faith in Trump & in themselves. Hell- I'm sure many of them still believe the "unmasking" bullshit & always will.

The attacks on the reputation of the FBI should give all Americans serious pause, regardless of your politics. Nothing empowers our enemies and weakens us as much as breaking down institutions that have long protected us.

Unfortunately it seems our elected officials have no capacity to understand the historical significance of their actions and can only see the short term political gains.

More than I've ever seen in my lifetime is America's greatness being diminished and for so little.

I seem to recall liberals taking a lot of heat for not siding with law enforcement and saying "blue lives matter" in the wake of controversial shootings. Hmm..
