Reinstitute the Draft now...

If we we as a nation want to continue "nation building" then we're going to need a draft, because who wants to risk their life to benifit the rich and powerful?

Half our problems in Iraq/Afganistan were caused by not having a big enough force to do the job right in the first place. Of course, I still don't think it would have worked the way "they" wanted it to, but at least we would have captured Osama.

You don't think we kill innocents over in Iraq? We destroyed their economic system and many cities causing an increase in poverty and homelessness. We've made sure that a huge percentage of the contractors are American companies rather than Iraqi. This keeps more Iraqis jobless and poor. We've intentionally incited racial tensions in a volatile country causing civilian attacks. And I know I read confirmed reports early on in the war of Army forces cluster bombing cities with enemy forces in them, completely disregarding the civilian population and killing many many times more civilians than enemy forces. Hell, we've killed 10 times more innocents, or been directly responsible for their deaths, than we have enemy forces.

As far as the topic goes.... I have never in my life even held a gun capable of firing (I've held antiques). I never will fire a gun, hold a gun, or use a gun in any way. I will NEVER take the life of another person. People are people, no matter what. Doing everything you can to separate humans into groups breeds nothing but fear and hatred. If they reinstated the draft I would absolutely apply for being a conscientious objector. If my claim was denied, I would absolutely go AWOL.

Religious fanatics, honor killings, beheadings, racism, sexism, just plain fvcking idiot-ism and medieval savagery. I have no wish to get any closer to those people than I am watching the news every night. I don't want to fight them or waste my life trying to drag them into the 19th century. Their culture was more advanced in 1000 AD than it is now...doesn't that tell you something?

I'd much rather we just develop an alternative means of fuel. Then, the only time I'd have to see these people would be in National Geographic where they belong! I'm sorry if that offends some of you, but I'm fvcking tired of the Middle East and everything it stands for and causes.

I think that the Draft is the only logical choice we have now to end this mess we created in the Middle East. We have to have 4x the amount of troops we have in Iraq just to provide simple security long enought to "finish to job" and claim "total victory" as the furor has spoken about. Once that is accomplished then we can get our asses out of there. I am sick and tired of hearing about the latest American casulty every single day, or how another XX civilians were killed in a car/pipe/personal bombing at a market/mosque/employement office of police station. If we really and truley want to end this "War" then we need to fight this war.... apparently niether the Republikanz or the DEMO-crats seem to have the balls to call a spade a spade and just do it. I was against this War and still am, but lets face facts... it can only get worse if we continue doing what the Furor suggests and if we leave Iraq now our standing in the world will plummet after Iraq turns to civil war and strains (further) the Oil supplies...... So come on people, be real.. the only REAL choice is to send our sons and daughters to the middle east to finish this thing and pray that they all come home safe and in one peice.
