Router has been working just fine for me for several days now. I just got the PC card today, seems to be working ok too (keep fingers crossed).

I set mine up last night. Wired connection was a breeze to set up, and i upgraded to the latest firmware immediately. However, my laptop could not connect to the router. My Windows Zero Config utility could see the SSID, but it just could not connect.

Upon searching google, I had to do a hard reset (press the reset button at the back for 30 sec and then remove the power plug). I set up the router once again because my settings were erased. After doing this, my laptop could now connect to the network.

My thoughts about the router: This router is much faster than my Buffalo air station through wired connection. The Buffalo is a workhorse, although slower than the Netgear, it is very reliable, i have not had to reset it for months. I hope that this Netgear will be as dependable.

Thanks to the OP for the original post, and AMDMadness for pointing out the Netgear WNR834B N router (refurb) was on sale for $49.99...I grabbed one...Lowest retail price I could find on it was $129...I just hope it's as reliable as my WGR614 v 6 has been... If it is, then this is a great deal...

Update: Got the WNR834B router linked by AMDMadness today, set it up on the main computer in the basement, upgraded to the latest firmware, then connected my wife's laptop, TIVO (both in family room), and my daughter's computer on the 2nd floor without a hitch and MUCH better signal strength than my 614 v 6...All have G wireless cards installed (configurable via the router login) and all 3 are getting at least 75% signal strength and 54MPS throughput...

Awesome deal for $53 and change shipped....

Sending my 834B back ... can't get it to connect to the web at all. Swapped back to the old reliable DLink 514 and everything works. Buying this saved me $50 off a retail buy, but now I have to RMA it and then buy retail at the higher price. *grumble*

Edit for my lousy day: Well Hells Bells ... I just bought a new one at OD today and I have the same issues .. W .. T .. F .. plug my Dlink back in and it runs fine !! I ran the Netgear CD smart wizard installer and I am getting a constant amber light on the power LED, even after a manual specified hard reset !!! I am officially stumped.

If anyone can offer up some help on my router issues, PM me please.

Specs:
Westell 2100 DSL modem w/ Verizon
Netgear 834B RangeMax wireless router (brand new)

I had used a refurb Netgear from this deal and I am getting green lights on that unit with the newest firmware on it, but no green power light on the new unit. Followed manual and hard reset router, but same issue remains. I'm guessing I will have to remove the router from the equation and plug the DSL modem directly into a PC, get into its login and change the modem to bridged mode to pass the IP onto the Netgear unit once that is hooked back up into the DSL modem.

Edit: FIXED !!!! First time I had to clone a MAC address to get a wireless router going .. but its working. Newest firmware seems to have eliminated the older WEP security option, as WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK are the only available options even tho the help menu on the right side of the config menu lists 5 options total including WEP.
