I'm curious to see how the game runs with Xbox one X setting, I guess I'll have to wait for Digital Foundry's analysis for that.

So how's performance for everyone? Read some early reports of crashing, low FPS, etc. I'm only running it at 1080p, so I'm hoping for FPS of 100+.

sigh

The game is in worse shape then Assasins Creed Unity.
This is totally not acceptable.

constant disconnects, launcher problems, having to load up two game launchers, both rockstar + Epic is making this game quite frustrating.

What worse is now i think i broke the game somehow as it wont launch.
Reddit Thread On Issues

I get an error when I try to launch it.

Again totally unacceptable for a game which was launched 1 yr after the console versions.
They had that long of a time to port the game properly.

Im about to write Epic a refund request, detailing how broken the game is soon, if i cant get it to launch.

Tried playing this morning. Crashed to desktop twice. Turned of HDR on my PC, launched the game again and it went HDR then crashed. Finally launched the game in safemode, turned off HDR withing the game then launched normally. Finally launched then optimized graphics settings to 4K and all on high settings. Looks ok and plays smoothly but looks a bit "odd". Had to leave for work but will play and tweak tonight. Using a GTX 1080 so maybe I need to update the drivers. From what little I played it did look loads better than it does on my PS4 Pro.

Read earlier that there is a patch to fix the launcher and something else that should stop crash to desktop or failing to launch.
I don’t own the game ATM. Just read something about it somewhere.

That patch won't work, at least not for me. Played the game last night after install, looked great and ran fine. But today, the launcher just crashes when I try to play the game. Tried all the nonsense online to try to get it to run. So far, a $65.00 paperweight in digital format, nice.

An RTX 2080 Ti can run the game at ~70 fps native 4k using XBOX1X settings, or close to them (some settings on the console version are lower than the lowest settings on PC):

I wouldn't trust any extra launcher with Rockstar these days. Steam may be better next month but in the end, you still have to use Rockstar's launcher (have had to for years).

Looks like I will be waiting for it on steam, to see if they bug fix most of this. Gears 5 turned out to be an excellent campaign so going to do another playthrough. Outer Worlds is up next, then Forza 4 or whichever is on game pass.

I've been playing all weekend with no issues or crashes. Seems like the patch fixed my issues. HDR in this game is horrid tho so I keep it off. All on ultra settings, probably not hitting 60fps but its very smooth regardless. The new horses are nice and the little extras are as well. Tonight, after MNF, I will look to get the newly added weapons.

the game is a absolute train wreck on DX12.

If you set the game to DX12 then you need to manually change it back to vulcan.
To do that:
Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings
In there you will find system.xml

under:
<advancedGraphics>
<API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>

Make sure it says API_Vulkan and not DX12.

With all these games now coming out for vulcan from PC Ports, its heavily weighing my next video cards towards AMD.
I also hear the game runs better on a 5700 XT vs a 2080Ti.

Anyhow i am almost done with the game.
Preloaded Starwars Jedi Fallen Order.
The game is only 53gb...

Yeah my SSD is crying right now...

After a 10 day gap was wondering is it pronounced as in Saint Dennis or as in Saint Denise? And more importantly do the clouds look similar to clouds in GTA5 and what other graphic objects look similar in design to GTA5? I think the game engine is based basically on the same one.

Was playing the game last night and my internet connection dropped, then got booted out of story mode, always online DRM strikes again.

Yeah i remember GTA V could be played offline without a connection and in between moves and stuff it was my go to game. Last time i tried to play it offline it wasn't no longer possible. Starting up a collection of older games strictly disc based. Already own BF2. Going for UT3 next. UT3 i heard is so bad on steam some people prefer to play the boot leg copies. I had a copy years ago but sold it with a computer i had in early 2010. I still remember the serial key cause of all the times i reinstalled on old/new/upgraded components and builds.

People see the last ten year trend of day one issues, patches, glitches, bugs, etc. and yet they are still surprised when they play a game and find out that it's buggy as hell in the first month. It's like nobody understands that you won't lose anything if you just wait a few months before you throw money at a company who is only going to half-ass something.

-Pre orders and day 1 purchases always confuse the hell outta me. Thanks to digital distros there is typically no scarcity of product after launch and the game is going to get the game breaking bugs and other garbage patched out a few months down the line.

If you're really patient, you pick up the GOTY/Definitive edition for a song later on down the line.

I can see how this might not work with MP games that are heavily dependent on inertia from the launch community to remain viable, but SP story based games?

Maybe I'm just a jaded old coot with no friends to pressure me into playing X game, but I'm personally happy to wait it out with the hundreds of other games I own in the meantime.

GOG.com is my go to for old games. DRM free, and everything I have purchased so far runs stable on windows 10.

I have plenty of friends pressuring me, but it usually turns out that I can convince them to not jump into the day one disaster and keep playing the games we have in our backlogs. Then, if the game is any good, it will have a steady online community and plenty of patches after a few months. I guess I'll never understand the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality.

Its on Steam right now but you still need a Rockstar account and they are STILL fcuked up beyond all recognition.
If you are willing to risk it right now, before they have fixed the issues, the game is currently marked down 20 percent.

Anyone wanna bite?

I may pick it up however since it’s a single player game the player base is pretty irrelevant
I’ll wait until it is$25 or less
