All the expensive type vacuums are rated rather poorly...... Such as Rainbow, Oreck and Dyson.

Your best bet (and it's what I own) is a Eureka Boss Smart Vac. $140.00 (give or take $10.00) ....Model #'s 4870 or 4874 (just go by the price on this one as the mdls are last years and may have been updated)

Make sure it's not a "BAGLESS" model!!!!!!! Bagless models are still inferior. Don't listen to anyone that says otherwise, as they are the ones that buy Sharper Image Crap (what they call Air Purifiers that don't work)!

Eureka Boss w/Hepa Filter $140.00

I thought electrolux had bags? My friend has one and it has bags. Has anyone used the Hoover Fusion? Might just pick up a damn Eureka Boss and call it a day.

Hoover Fusion is not that great and is also rated very low. Most people here don't research anything before they buy and will never tell you if the item they bought was crap or not because then they would be saying they wasted money on something that was sub-par.
I used to be a Hoover man for years but for about $100.00 less, Eureka's my gal! **LOL**

Just make sure the Eureka......... Is not bagless, has a hepa filter, has "Boss" in it's name and sells for about or right at $139.99 Use the mdl numbers I gave you for reference.

So bagless vacuums are beat out by the models with bags? I swear it seems like all they make are bagless vacuums when you walk into target....

Use the Force Luke............. Don't be persuaded to the dark side! Think Bag mdl!
It's all the rage these days. Mostly women buying before thinking. Go to Google and type: Bagless vacuum better than bag? Find out for yourself.

There's over 100 reviews by people like you at Amazon for the 4870. Go read them and you decide :)

Hey guys, I want a vacuum, but please don't recommend any of these good ones, ok? Thanks!
If you're just picking up a cheap vacuum based solely on price, I don't think you need too much advice.
Well, he did say he wanted it from Wal-Mart! :p
My folks had an Electrolux that lasted about 25 years. I dont know where to find them though.
Sears has Electrolux now but they have bags. WTF?
Ummmm, the 25 year old Electrolux had bags too.
I give up.
WTF?
Which ones had the water filtration? I thought that was Electrolux?

Rainbow is the one that uses water. I have a Dirt Devil and it is good (we go through vacuums pretty quickly)

Sears has the Galaxy on sale for $40 bucks and was wondering if anyone had experience with them (never heard of them) If the word is good, I'll probably pick it up.

Don't buy a $40 vacuum. I tried a $50 one from BB (Eureka I think). It was a POS and went back the next day.

I'm goign to go with that eureka boss. It sounds the most promising and has the best compromise on pricing. It can be had on ebay for a lot cheaper than retail which is $150. Thanks again guys.

I got an extremely silent and great vacuum from Amazon...from bissel, but really a Samsung.

Equal to Miele. I paid about $100 shipped I think.

First you have to decide upright or canister/etc.

I have nothing but tile and area rugs.

Best vacuum is 30" Hg. Of course that's hard for even Seargent Welch to accomplish. ;)

Don't know if it has the HEPA filter you need, but it cleans perfectly in my 3 cat (and one asian woman ;)) house.

Doubt it is still available at $55 bucks. I have had it since 2004.
