Recent switch from Nvidia to ATI?

Aigo - I'm not sure your RMA arguement is as valid as you think. Certainly the ease of sending a card in is important when your card fails but for most people that happens so infrequently that it is a non-issue IMO. Judging by the amount of RMAs you've had are you sure it isn't from extreme cooling issues or insane amounts of voltage?

i do not overclock things which are already nuclear furnaces to begin with.

AMD X2's + 580GTX are all on stock.

And extreme cooling... unless u mean keeping the cards in ranges of 20-45C tops as extreme cooling...

Ive had to RMA with almost every company out there once.
Ive learned who to deal with and who not to.

My Vendor favorates are eVGA + ASUS + Gigy + MSI. :T
The last 3 apply to AMD, and they have a fairly good service... not as great as eVGA tho.

Which is why im stuck on nvidia, because eVGA only does nvidia.

Nvidia or ATi ,but brand and country you live in plus their RMA policy and turnaround.

Talking of RMA which has never been an issue for me,I think the only card I had that was ever faulty was Leadtek 7800 card, all my other ATI /Nvidia cards have never gone faulty.
I still have GF2 MX and ATI 9700 cards going strong on my Linux rigs.

I could easily live without a card for a few weeks, especially when in my case I have quite a few PCs and Nvidia based gaming laptop.

lol... your right i have vendor loyalty more so then brand loyalty.
But its because the vendor adds the options to the brand to make it more appealing.

But i will not push 1 or the other, if u guys are thinking that.
I will push vendor tho, because well, anyone whose gotten screwed will declare war on the vendor. 😛

Good raid leader has a deputy ,heard of management 😉.

LOL... now we somehow swung into WOW?

Why is it WOW is always involved.. 😀

Hehe actually I don't play WOW ,however all the Raid leaders that I've chatted with in other games have a deputy for those times they can't play for whatever reason.

Many companys has treated me well, including eVga. Most recently XFX did VERY well with a 5850 RMA even though it was a customers card and not mine. No questions asked beyond the normal symptoms type stuff and very fast turn around.

Obviously people have had bad experiences with nearly every vendor out there, even the high and mighty eVga. 🙄

Huh. I just always assumed you oced everything to the hilt with your watercooling rig.

By extreme I was talking about maybe a water leak or zapping something while installing ram sinks, etc. I guess "extreme" would be better used for phase change or LN2 eh.

I'm still surprised you've had so many RMA issues.

Why would you make such a statement when referencing a company that has a monthly (and sometimes even more frequent) driver release schedule plus hotfixes?

If the drivers weren't an issue, wouldn't that driver update frequency and hotfix, patch, beta release frequency be a lot closer to zero?

Obviously there ARE driver issues, hence the frequent updates to the drivers.

But why try and act like it isn't true? Every product out there that can be updated has an update cycle to it, from your mobo's BIOS to the security updates for your OS to the firmware for your SSD to the drivers for your GPU. If everything was perfect then there'd be no need for updates, but nothing is ever perfect and thank god we get updates to correct the less acceptable problems in time.

As well people assume that nvidia always had better drivers then AMD, but even nvidia is killing cards/has issues, so it's not like one works great and the other doesn't.

Well, if you have "customers" like I do, then I'm sure you can understand why some people aren't satisfied. 😉

There is also the possibility they got a lousy service agent. Just like any other job, not everyone that does it is going to be good. It's unfortunate that most businesses don't have compensation packages set up to encourage people to do a good job. The employer pays their staff as little as they possibly can, and the staff gives them the same thing back... as little as they possibly can. Alas, it's not a perfect world.
